Effective Quick Response Assistive Cane for Visually-impaired People
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryVisually impaired people find difficulties detecting obstacles in front of them, during walking in the street, which makes it dangerous. The smart stick comes as a proposed solution to enable them to identify the world around them. I aim to build a programmable cane that can be used to help the blind in doing their daily routine works easily. It consists of hardware as well as software it may help the person to detect obstacles, stairs and water. SOS button, Bluetooth control buzzer and many other features are also included. It is very easy to operate as it is portable and chargeable.
Project Objectives- Programming of the induvial sensor for all the function to perform correctly.
- Comparison, study and selection of the required electronic equipment including sensors, motors and programming chips.
- Assembly of the parts separately according to their respective function.
- Complete understanding and implementation of the code and hardware according to need.
- Complete understanding and implementation background knowledge which is used in this.
- Complete integration of the hardware & software portions for the development of the complete prototype.
- Literature Review.
- Theoretical design of Cane algorithm of code.
- Literature review of the existing component detection and tracking techniques.
- Hardware completion and proper working.
- Our designed stick will be able to detect obstacles and to recognize and speak aloud or buzzer alarm to the upward and downward stairs or puddles.
- The training of our product isn’t as expensive as training of other products. Our training is just a description of stick components and their usage.
- With aid of an earphone, the speech warning message kit is able to speak an aloud warning message to the blind instead of incomprehensible sound and public embarrassment.
- The blind stick can easily detect water or mud.
-
There is a cap that will detect the obstacles on the head level.
-
GPS will help the homies to find the blind person.
- In an emergency situation, the user will press the SOS button which will send a message to a specific contact number along with his current location.
The aim of the project is to development of a cane that could communicate with the users through voice alert and vibration, which is named Effective Quick Response Assistive Cane for Visually-impaired People. The development work involves coding and physical installation. The Smart Cane functions well as intended, in alerting users about the obstacles in front
