We are designing a drone, Red Crescent (Red symbolises blood and the Crescent denotes the Muslim Nation), for medical emergencies. The drone will be used for such emergencies where the approach of a paramedic is either limited or requires time. It can be life-saving if there is a delay in the arrival of an ambulance or if the accident took place in such an area where the ambulance may not be able to get to right away. It is a surveillance drone and will roam the skies keeping eyes on all potential casualties. In this manner, all those multiple incidents that go unreported because of the remoteness of the area and cause deaths can be prevented. It will possess a built-in artificial intelligence such that image processing will help it recognise all victims. If it does, it will send an immediate alert to the nearest hospital. If a medical staff member is available nearby but does not possess the required equipment, medicine, instrument, blood or even organ, the drone will be their go-to option for the quick delivery of the said product from the nearest place that can arrange so. Its payload capacity is one kilogram. In this, it will be able to deliver life-saving medicine, a donor organ or medical instrument within a short interval of time. 

Project Objectives

Before we set out on this daunting challenge, we put forth our objectives before us.

1. Our main and foremost objective was medical assistance. It remains at the crux of our project. To alert hospitals or paramedics of accidents that had taken place but maybe unreported as of yet.

2. In the field of medicine, the value of life can be mere seconds. The pace of the drone will set it apart from human trauma and emotional delay. 

3. Many patients die on the way to the hospital. We imagined a vivid picture of it saving people because of its ability to transport any such material that may prove crucial to life and death.

4. It's constant surveillance will help keep coverage of casualties in the selected area round the clock.

5. Surveillance will give it the advantage of reporting accidents in isolated or rural areas.

Project Implementation Method

The drone will be a hexacopter. It will be assembled with carbon fibre limbs, batteries, motors, motor drivers, raspberry pi, camera and will contain a payload that will bear the capacity of one kilogram. It will provide continuous surveillance with a battery life of forty minutes, in which it will survey the area carefully. There will be arranged with the drone a localised charging pad where, after forty minutes, the drone will land and charge. Every drone will remain within it's allocated area and provide continuous surveillance. An Image-processing artificial intelligence in Python will be coded onto the high-pixel camera so that it can identify the injured.

Benefits of the Project

Red Crescent has multifarious benefits:

1. It can identify severe accidents or casualties without the need of a human due to its AI tech.

2. It can alert the nearest hospital when there is no witness at the site of an emergency, that is, the accident takes place in a remote area. 

3. It will give the closest ER, the exact location of the accident.

4. It can alert the hospital if any available witness has no phone or means of notifying the ER.

5. It can provide immediate transport of any required material to any field or site of the emergency. 

6. It can be used to move organs from one ER to another, avoiding the risk of traffic or any other hurdles that may come on the road, because of its air-borne nature.

7. It will keep constant surveillance.

8. It can help locate victims of assault and abuse in isolated areas that often go neglected. Such victims that might become critical by the time someone finds them.

9. It is faster than the human approach.

10. It can also survey dangerous areas air-borne such as disaster sites and biological hazards where the physical appearance of a human may be dangerous, difficult or may come at a cost.

11. It shows greater responsiveness.

12. It can carry micro-biological or any other laboratory sample from rural labs to bigger hospitals where it may be examined or studied.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Technically, Red Crescent can detect accidents and alert the local authorities. It can deliver pain-killers and emergency anti-venoms to the injured on the site faster than any human. It will have artificial intelligence that will help it recognise potential victims through image processing. It can also assist paramedics and hospitals in multiple ways.

In a nutshell, its speed, adept nature, AI and payload capacity will distinguish it from human hindrances and save multitudinous souls.
