Project Summary

Railway is lifeline of any country's economics well being. In addition to this it is considered as the cheapest mode of transportation and preferred over other means of transportation.

The main problem is that many accidents occur at the crossing point of railway track and vehicles and it causes heavy loss of human lives in case of accidents .Generally, the railway gates are operated manually so accident occur due to miss-communication or delay in information or irresponsibility of signal from central point and or gate keeper. In some remotes areas the gates may also be missing and people/vehicles crossing the track have to take care by themselves.

we are looking forward to develop an IOT based system in which train is detect by sensors and information is transmitted to the gate/gate keeper in order to close the door prefareable auntomatically.

Project Objectives

The main objective of this project is to develop an IOT based automatic Railway crossing system, which helps Railway Gates without gaurd/watchman and which makes it helpful for activity at level crossings.

It deals with two things; Firstly,the proposed system reduce/save the time which gates are kept closed, and secondly, to give the safety to users by reducing the mishaps that normally happen because of heedlessness of users and watchman.Thus, the system will reduce the reliance of human resources for railway crossing gates and safety of people crossing the tracks.

Optimize the existing system by using IOT System (deploying appropriate sensor system).

Optimize train-to-infrastructures (T2X) communication for relying information to railway crossings.

Project Implementation Method

The overall controls finished by IOT based on the different input signals provided by the sensors.

We can detect train by E.M waves ,Laser, sharing location, putting cameras, we can detect train by putting the sensors or railway track which detects the vibration of train that how much our train is far and when train comes to the range of that sensor which we set the gates will be automatically close.

Benefits of the Project

The main benefits of our project is to provide safety and save human lives.

Decrease the accidents which are occurring at the railway crossing because sometimes the working guy is not alert about arrival of train or sometime the signal from main point is malfunctioning,.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

In technical details,

When sensors are putting on the railway track which detect the vibration of train and as well tell us speed of train that how much train is far from the level crossings or junctions. 

In Railway the camera is used to monitor the public or private areas that need to be monitored for security reasons.

And use of EM waves transimitted along the side of railway track for the purpose of providing radar location of trains as well as telephonic communication with drivers and gaurds.

The lasers can work on trains moving at speeds of upto 80km an hour. 

Lasers also used for railway repair and preventative maintainance.
