Project Summary

This project proposes an innovative design to develop a system based on microcontroller that is used for monitoring a substation. This is an IoT(Internet of Things) based Project in which we monitor all the three phase parameters on any Smartphone, Laptop etc at any far end. Their we Find all the parameters of three phase system Like; Voltage, Current, phase failure, phase asymmetry, phase sequence, phase unbalance, phase angle and phase frequency. Their we also measure the voltage between phase to phase, phase to neutral, phase to earth and neutral to earth. Their is also an another option available which is auto Phase Sequence corrention. It means if the phase sequence is incorrect from the supply end so thet automatically correct the Phase Sequence. These all Parameters are Show on LCD and also on Smartphone at IoT technology. We also include an option to store all the Data for the Bankup purpose.

This is an complete Protected project because we use the breaker and contactor to cut-off the supply if any fault occur an if the measured values is greater or less than the thrashold values that will save our system from harm.

We also make this project on Simulink Based by using Any Simuling software like Matlab or proteus.

Project Objectives

This project plays an important role in the three phase supply because there are many factors like fluctuations in voltage and current, phase angle, phase failure, phase sequence, phase unbalance, phase asymmetry and phase frequency which effect on the consumer load. Basically this project protect the equipment’s at the consumer end. Those factors can be overcome by using breakers, contactor and other protection circuits.Their is also an another option available which is auto Phase Sequence corrention. It means if the phase sequence is incorrect from the supply end so thet automatically correct the Phase Sequence. By connecting an inductive load we observe that how many power it consumes. If there is any fault occur it will appear on LCD. There is also an another option that this is an IoT base project so we can also see our fault and power consuming result on our smartphone.

Project Implementation Method

The hardware framework is illustrated in the bellow figure 1. The main circuits include the power supply, voltage and current sensors and signal conditioning circuits. The breaker and contactor are used for the protection of the system. There are two contactors use which automatically correct the phase sequence if it is change from supply side. If there is any fault occur in the system it automatically turnoff the load or cutoff the supply. There is use Arduino Mega for measuring the voltage, current, frequency, phase angle and they also detect some fault like; phase sequence, phase unbalance, phase asymmetry and phase failure in the three phase line. The SD-Card and Wi-Fi module are also interface form the Arduino which store our backup data and sent it through the Wi-Fi module at the end user at a far distance. This most commonly use technique called as IoT.

  • Controlling and monitoring the phase system faults wirelessly.
  • Every phase has its own CT and PT to allocate fault easily if any.
  • It also store the data as a backup in SD-Card.
  • This project lies in modern trend by usage of IoT.

At the End We Pressnt the complete Tested running Project which is Hardwead based and also Simulation based.
