Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryIn this project, we are going to design the IoT Based Patient Health Monitoring System. The IoT platform that will be used in this project is ThingSpeak. IoT based patient health monitoring system is a generic term given to any medical equipment that has internet capability and can measure one or more health data of a patient who is connected to the device such as heartbeat, body temperature and BP. The equipment can record, transmit and alert if there is any abrupt change in the patient’s health.
Project ObjectivesThe objective is to design a Patient Health Monitoring System to diagnose the health condition of the patients
The use of sensors detects the conditions of the patient and the data is collected and transferred using an Ardunio
The idea of network technology with wireless applicability, providing each patient a unique ID by which the doctor can easily identify the patient and his/her status of health parameters
Project Implementation MethodThis project has been developed with Arduino microcontroller connected with sensors which are attached to the patient. All the sensors and location data sent from microcontroller to the ThingSpeak. A doctor or guardian can log in to web portal to monitor patient’s data at any point in time. In case of emergencies, like temperature spike or heartbeat spike or Blood pressure spike And at any point of time either a doctor or guardian can log into web portal with patient unique credentials and can track patient’s medical services to send appropriate help in case of emergencies.
Benefits of the Project- increased patient comfort and convenience enable better patient satisfaction and faster recovery times.
- IoT healthcare devices, wearable technology and data access allow physicians to monitor patients with greater precision and provide better-informed treatment.
- IoT security systems increase safety for patients, physicians and staff.
The patient monitoring system was researched, designed and presented the concept of the Internet of things.Personal physiological data from the patient is collected that simulates fall detection, heartbeat, temperature, blood pressure. The readings are collected in a simple database and can be viewed remotely by a doctor or Healthcare giver. The data can also be used in research on medical issues affecting the elderly or chronically ill
