Project Summary

Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) is a developing technology now a days. VANETs technology combines hardware and software to broadcast status of various routes between vehicles to help for safe passage or routes with less congestion for the passing vehicles or other transportation. VANETs are further classified into two categories i-e 1. Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) Communication and 2. Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) Communication.

In V2I, the vehicles have On Board Units (OBUs), which comprise of Omni directional radio wires, processors, GPS unit, and sensors for V2V correspondences. In addition, the vehicles perform V2I interchanges with roadside frameworks called Road Side Units (RSUs) which convey information to between vehicles through remote medium or wired associations. They can likewise be versatile. The V2I interchanges can be additionally reached out to give applications, for example, Internet since RSUs can be associated with a system. The V2V correspondences can be utilized to send crisis and constant data, for example, a mishap or street traffic data with the goal that different vehicles can take elective courses to anticipate traffic clogs.

Project Objectives

Aim:

  • To develop a wireless communication architecture for emergency vehicles in order to provide a safe passage for real time route selections assistance.

Objectives:

  • To design a communication architecture based on IoT.
  • Simulation and development of hardware to implement the architecture in various routes and scenarios.
  • System performance measurement in various scenarios and data analysis.

Project Implementation Method

In this project, a system will be designed and developed which will be based on both V2V and V2I technologies. A communication architecture will be developed with automatic management of traffic by guiding emergency vehicles to find less congested route based on the basis of real time data sent by the sensors. During the time of any sort of mishap or traffic jam, the sensors (Collision sensor, smoke sensor, motion sensor) will be activated and will be able to send the signal to the Arduino. Then the Arduino will send this notification to the web-based system via a communication module. This update will be available at the system and anyone who’d be travelling to that particular route will visit our designed web application to get an update and the status of the route.

Benefits of the Project

This project will provide safe passage assistance to the vehicles on the routes, specially the emergency vehicles. In case of any congestion or blockage on the route, anyone can access the web page to know the status of the route. This project is also a cost-efficient project, as there will be no need of integrating additional systems in the vehicles which may increase the overall price of the vehicles, rather just integrating this system separately.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The project is divided into two parts in the first phase i-e Hardware and software. The hardware will work on the ground which will be connected to software via module. Software will work as the database in this project. Also, a research publication in result of our project will also be carried out.
