In addition, users lack transparency of statistics located in different departments. IoT based energy management solution is to address the above said problems, minimize KWH consumption through efficient allocation and reduce cost.

Project Implementation Method

A smart energy meter is based on Internet of Things (loT). The proposed smart energy meter controls and calculates the energy consumption using Arduino and  ESP 8266, a Wi-Fi module and uploads it to the cloud from where the consumer can view the reading. This meter can record active and reactive power and power factor of any type of load. This system helps in controlling energy consumption and avoiding energy wastage. In the proposed system, the current and voltage sensors gather the data and send this data to Arduino. The data is being manipulated in Arduino IDE and the respective kWh, p.f, voltages and currents are calculated of the attached load. Further, this data is transferred to a central server or a web dashboard.

Benefits of the Project

The proposed system is able to reduce the sufferings of the customer and make users concern about the excessive consumption of electricity as well as faulty devices at home. Through this system, customers can easily view total Kwh and total costs of electricity. The system is easily readable and reliable. The data stored in the cloud has great importance in future energy meter data mining. Having handsome history of sensor data this IOT technology can be upgraded into AI.
