Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryCathodic protection is an essential/mandatory system for metalic objects like pipeline, ships, steel structures.It protect the metallic object from corrosion. Cathodic protection unit consist of an array of rectifiers which makes the pipeline as cathode to protect form corrosion reaction. Performance of rectifiers degrades due to environmental effects therefore its monitoring is a need to maintain the system. We propose the impressed current cathodic protection system with remote monitoring based on IOT/GSM

Project Implementation MethodAll buried metalic structure are covered by this protection method. The method is based on the deoxidation of metal to protect from rusting. Since rust is actually the metaloxides and process of oxidation is happened because of free electron in the metalic object which cause oxidation. oxygen attracts free electron of metals and make them positively charged and causes oxidation reaction. Therefore the metallic structure is made cathod to overcome the lose of electron and Anode(s) is buried around the metallic structure this behaves like a cell where the soil is electrolyte. In this process there is a need to maintain certain potential diffeerence between cathod( metallic structure) and anode. we using impressed current system method to achived the goal.
Benefits of the ProjectHelpful for employers to be update about site where cathodic protection system status, location of a site, temperatue/humidity and voltage/current status of a cp system. Time saving and efficient protection and monitoring of a metallic structure. Saving money and loses caused by rust/environmental effects on metallic structure.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableUse of Remote Terminal Unite based on IOT/GSM to make the monitoring of a Impressed Current Cathodic Protection(ICCP) very easy and Also fixed on any metallic structure/buried metalic pipe line. Veriable output of a rectifier using in a ICCP system.
