Project Summary

SMART BLIND WALKING STICK is an electronic model cane that helps the blind person to walk safely by avoiding the obstacles. It is smart model that alerts the user about obstacles (objects, fire, water etc) in his path. Upon detection of obstacle, it alerts the user with sound and vibration that is distinguishable for each different obstacle so as to help user identify and distinguish the obstacle.It also has a RF Remote device that helps the user locate his stick if found within his own location. It has Location tracking device to trace the location of user for the ease of guardian. This feature enables the guardian to look after his blind person. Also, this device would help blind to call for an emergency to his guardian just pressing with a pushbutton. 

This stick is based upon user-friendly and cost-effective features. The designing and modelling of this stick is under process along with few additional features of GSM/GPS Module. 

Project Objectives

  1.  Detects obstacles, fire, water, ditches within the path and alert through a buzzer sound and vibrator motor . Sound and vibration is specific for each obstacle.
  2. Efficient Compatible power source with good battery life specially designed for this product.  Space of backup power source is also available.
  3. Compact and durable material  , Compatible , Cost-effective and Advanced product for blind. 
  4. Location tracking of blind person to inform guardian after desired timing.
  5. Additional Remote Control for blind to locate his stick within his range.
  6. Room for technologies.

Project Implementation Method

This project consist of Electronics and Hardware implementation.

HARDWARE : The Hardware part is based upon designing a vector diagram of this stick in CAD and then get it print on Acrylic. The required changes within casing can be reviewd and final model will be 3D printed. After implanting the electronics , the first model would be presented to QC and once approved will trigger the stock production of product.

ELECTRONICS: This stick is based upon Ultrasonic sensor, Fire sensor, Water sensor, Vibrator, Buzzer and Microcontroller. All these sensors and alarms are interfaced with Microcontroller which directs them using a specially composed code for the detection and alarming about obstacles. The process of RF Remote and GSM/GPS module implementation is continued in its working with it.

1- To assist blind people in their daily by introducing such device in market. This model is more advanced in features thanthe excisting models in market.

2- To trigger the manufacuring of Health care products within local industry of Pakistan.

3-The GDP growth would be prominent due to its production within Pakistan and can be used for export as well.

4- To create job for students from different fields(Software, Electronics , CAD desgin etc)

5- To deepen the roots of idea of Entrepenuership  withiing young student

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The ffinal model of this product would be a Foldalbe stick (approximately of cane size) that is electronically modeled.The package consist of Power back up source, RF Remote and replacable battery. Some special discount would be given on first 50 orders and stock order (5-10 sticks).

We wish to preview our Product within two different categories ,with some difference in their features. The customer can order the type of stick with his desired features through online service(App, Website, Contact details) and recieve his/her order within 15-20 working days. The product will consist of a Warranty card and infromation booklet (user guide).
