Input Parallel Output-Series Connected DC-DC Converter Using Stable Control Scheme With Modified Connection in Output Filter Circuit
ABSTRACT:
Input-Parallel Output-Series (IPOS) based combined converter is mostly used in the condition such as low voltage high current at the input side and high voltage low current at the output side to satisfy the requirements in switch stress reduction and power expansion. In a such system, at the output side the voltage balance of filter capacitor and at input side the sharing current usually used to guarantee of control and conversion system. In this project, IPOS connected half boost bridge DC-DC converter with modified connection in output filter circuit for the large variation in output voltage is proposed which is advantage to decrease ripple current of filter inductor Significantly. A stable control has been used. The main purpose of the control scheme is to maintain equal Input Current Sharing and Output Voltage Sharing with feedback close loop system so that any chances of error occurrence due to load variation will be rectified. Therefore, the relationship between Input Current Sharing and Output Voltage Sharing has been developed. There are many application of high voltages and low current such as in residential, industrial and aerospace environments and other in renewable energy generation, high voltage pulses etc. In order to verify the control objective, the IPOS configuration of Boost Half Bridge (BHB) DC-DC converter is simulated on MATLAB using SIMPOWER tools and hardware model developed to verify condition practically.
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
The main idea of this input parallel, output series (IPOS) connection is to overcome the losses occurs in case of one DC-DC boost converter, single converter has problem includes large current stress at the input side and high voltage stress at the output side, which may cause large switching stresses on the devices due to high voltages, amplitude fluctuation of ripple current and high losses. Another problem with single boost dc converters is that for higher output voltages we must require according to input voltages causes increasing more loss and more cost. Therefore, by using this configuration (IPOS), rapid dynamic response, low cost boost converters, and high efficiency converter can be developed. These advantages can be achieved.
The configuration proposed in our project for DC-DC converter is Input parallel output series (IPOS) with the stable control scheme. Following are the objectives of our project;
Firstly, we will connect DC source at the Input Parallel side of converters and series connection of the converter at the load side. In the output side we will connect the filter for the balance and reduction of ripple current at the input side[5]. After that, on the primary side of the high-frequency transformer the boost, half bridge with an inductor will be connected, on the secondary side high-frequency transformer the voltage doubler rectifier connected for the first module of dc converter, same procedure will be continue for the second module of dc converter. Further, for the individual module, the turn ration of the high-frequency transformer is set to be 1:2. Then, by varying different load condition to see behavior of output voltage by operating system.
