Vein pattern recognition is one of the most popular biomedical applications. There is a need to develop vein detection devices which can clearly show veins. Human eyes can only detect visible light that occupies a very narrow band from 400 to 700nm of the spectrum. A spectral window
exists from 700 to 900nm where light can penetrate deep into the tissues. The wavelength of the infrared (IR) light beam coming out from a light source is selected to be around 850nm. Some of the old techniques are: ultrasound, chemical method. The camera sensor has been used to come across infrared radiation to take the vein photos. With the addition of an image processing process, the vein shape obtained is more useful for venipuncture or needle insertion.

Project Objectives Objective

Our objective is to design an autonomous system that will locate blood vessels, making needle insertion as accurate as possible, based on Python Programming Language and Tmage Processing with Infrared Radiations.

Project Implementation Method Methodology

We illuminate a method of sensing a vein in real time with consecrations from python to prevent or reduce the amount of imminent tragedies for patients when injecting the syringe by the physician into their everyday life. A NoIR camera displays the anatomy of the vein in a distinct manner using the contrast reduced adaptive histogram equalization system past infrared (NIR) illumined blood tissue haemoglobin and to record the image. This simple approach can also lead to the hunt for blood stains, headache and so forth. This method is often referred to as "True-Day-Night" (TDN) as it produces true colored pictures throughout the daytime, & black/white night-mode pictures at night.

The Raspberry Pi NoIR Camera v2 is the official “night vision” camera board released by the Raspberry Pi Foundation.The Raspberry Pi NoIR Camera Module v2 is a high quality 8 megapixel Sony IMX219 image sensor custom designed add-on board for the Raspberry Pi, featuring a fixed focus lens. The NoIR Camera has No InfraRed (NoIR) filter on the lens which makes it perfect for doing Infrared photography and taking pictures in low light (twilight) environments.

It features a 3.5" display with 480x320 16-bit color pixels and a resistive touch overlay, but is only slightly larger than our popular original. The plate uses the high speed SPI interface on the Pi and can use the mini display as a console, X window port, displaying images or video etc.

Software details

Python programming language is used for image processing which includes AHE, Median filtering, Grayscale conversion etc.
