Induction heating is a non-contact, non-hazard heating technique to produce very high temperature. It uses high frequency electricity to heat materials which are electrically conductive. It is a well-known technique to produce high temperatures for applications. Appropriate frequency must be used depending on the work piece and its requirements and since it is a non-contact heater, the heating process does not contaminate the material being heated. It consists on a work coil where the work piece to be heated is placed. The passage of current through this coil generates a very intense and rapidly changing magnetic field in the space within the work coil. Then the work piece is heated within this intense alternating magnetic field. The motivation for this project was to come up with a controlled and precise industrial heating system because precise temperature controlling and fast heating process is integral part of Industries but prevailing Industries, especially in Pakistan requires a new modern technique which can handle temperature controller with more accuracy and preciseness. As the controllers being used now are slow and inaccurate.
An engineer’s aim is to provide the best product in low cost and to make it user friendly. So, here our aim is to provide or introduce a heating device which is cost effective, time effective and non-injurious to health because worker safety is our priority.
Here some of our objectives which we will try our best to achieve in an efficient manner. Efficient temperature controlling is the core requirement of the Industries. Industries require temperature controlling in different process like welding, soldering, melting, annealing, steel making etc. we use Inverter to achieve temperature control of induction heating coils. By controlling the frequency of inverter, the temperature of the load is controlled which in turn save energy. Lastly, as mentioned above safety that matters in the first place so we will make a device which is very safe to use.
The induction heater will consist of a microcontroller taking input from keyboard where we can set the temperature and time. The controller will also be connected to LCD where current and temperature will be displayed. Capacitor bank will be connected to give the boost charge to induction coil. A thermocouple is used to measure output temperature of the induction coil.
Efficient temperature controlling is the core requirement of the Industries. Industries require temperature controlling in different process like welding, soldering, melting, annealing, steel making, and etc. This project can be implemented in all industries mentioned above.
At the testing phase, thermocouple parameters will be tested and then using thermocouple, induction coil will be tested.

The passage of current through this coil generates a very intense and rapidly changing magnetic field in the space within the work coil. The work piece to be heated is placed within this intense alternating magnetic field. The alternating magnetic field induces a current flow in the conductive work piece. The arrangement of the work coil and the work piece can be thought of as an electrical transformer. The work coil is like the primary where electrical energy is fed in, and the work piece is like a single turn secondary that is short-circuited. This causes tremendous currents to flow through the work piece. These are known as eddy currents.
