Indoor Food Serving Robot
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryThe main aim of this work is to use a robot in a typical cafeteria environment to serve food from the main counter to the customer’s table, thereby acting as a mobile robot waiter. This project is important in order to improve the serving time and efficiency in serving food to the customers. The robot utilizes an Arduino microcontroller to run a program with a mix of RFID innovation, a line following module and an obstacle detector system. The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) passive is fixed on the actual robot, and peruses the RFID passive label which is put under the serving plate. The RFID application permits the robot to recognize the right table that will be served and the robot moves to the individual table in light of the tag. The main unique thing of this serving robot is that the use of obstacle detection together with the function of RFID technology. The discoveries from this exploration give proof that the robot can move as per the portrayed way.
Project ObjectivesThe main objective of Robot is to develop a system design capable of carrying out useful tasks autonomously in busy circumstances. The robot-project exploits a new approach towards endowing robots with advanced perception and action capabilities.
The project must be capable of following line.
- It should be capable of taking various degree of turns.
- The robot must be insensitive to environmental factors such as lighting and noise.
- It must allow calibration of the line’s darkness threshold.
- The robot must be reliable.
- Scalability must be a primary concern in the design.
- The color of the line must not be a factor as long as it is darker than the surroundings.
The design of the robot consists of the chassis which is the body of robot. It got two parts lower and upper part. Lower part consists of all the wheels, dc motors, sensors, arduino, etc. The upper part consists of the tray.
The robot is 4-wheel drive system with 4-DC geared motors. The tray is connected with the lower part by two load bars.
Benefits of the ProjectThe benefits of the project are as following:
- Robots are faster.
- Autonomous food delivery is affordable.
- Food is safer.
- You can track robots.
- Robots reduce the pollution.
- Minimized exposure to COVID-19.
- It is safer and saves space.
- It helps save significantly on labour cost.
All the technical details including robot motors, gripper, sensors and further technical components are given below that are used in project.
IR Sensor: IR sensor is an electronic gadget that transmits the light to detect some object of the environmental factors. An IR sensor can quantify the hotness of an item just as recognizes the movement. As a rule, in the infrared range, every one of the articles emanates some type of warm radiation.
DC Motor: A DC motor is any of a class of rotating electrical engines that converts direct flow electrical energy into mechanical energy. The most well-known sorts depend on the powers created by attractive fields. ... Little DC engines are utilized in instruments, toys, and machines.
Liquid Crystal Display: A fluid gem show (LCD) is a level board show or other electronically tweaked optical gadget that utilizes the light-regulating properties of fluid gems.
Radio Frequency Identification Sensor: Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors, coordinating the elements of Wireless Information and Power Transfer (WIPT), object distinguishing proof and energy productive detecting abilities, have been viewed as another worldview of detecting and correspondence.
