Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject Summarywe aim to develop a home area network which will consist of home automation and smart meter for the power monitor or power manipulation. we are using zigbeee technology for the smart home with one arduino acting as a micro-controller. we are using two zigbees in which one of that is acting as a router and other which is connected with arduino acting as a coordinator. router zigbee will send wireless signal to coordinator zigbee which microcontroller will read and depending upon that controlled signal ,the load connected with microcontroller by relayis operating . load is like fans lights tv etc. for the controlling of our load i.e automatiion,we will give input through our pc or mobile phone to router zigbee.
Project Objectivesthe basic idea behind the this project is energy management i.e power saving.for this project of home automation,only our load can go to sleep mode while our router and coordinator will be working 24/7.that means they can't go offline.when our router and coordinator will be working continuously, their power consumption will be only few watts per hour as comapre to wifi model that takes much more than that.
the other objective of this project is to help older and disable people who can't walk all our the house to controll different home appliances. so they will be able to control home electronic aplliances with their cell phone or pc easily.
lastly, this project will eliminate the minor task of controlling home appliaces manually saving energy and time for other useful activities.

XBEE
Digi XBee is the brand name of a popular family of form factor compatible wireless connectivity modules from Digi International. we are using arduino mega as our microcontroller for reading the received signal and than operating our load depending on that signal
