Project Summary

The idea is to design and launch an online platform which will facilitate the FYP process implementation. The primary objective of this project is to provide a common platform for Students (opting for Final year project) and teachers (if interested in FYP supervision) which will help them in managing their ideas and proposals in a better way. Further, it will enhance the communication between teachers and students in accordance with their FYPs. In this project, Students will be allowed to openly express their FYP ideas, choose the domain of their interest and select their project internal advisor. Teachers, on the other end, shall have the visibility of students trying or opting to work in their domain/area of interest. Also, there shall be a pool of FYP ideas suggested by teachers. Secondly, if the student comes up with his/her own idea of FYP then it will be only visible to committee members (Specific Teachers) and history of student’s proposal shall be maintained. Committee members will decide the status (modification needed, Approved, rejected) of the proposal which will only be visible to committee members, student and supervisor.

Project Objectives

The main objective behind building this FYP management system is that it will increase the productivity by making the job to be done quickly. Compilation of the data can be done easily with just a click of mouse. It will bring reduction in the manual work that is done by the FYP committee. Retrieval of the data can be done faster because the records are stored and well organized in the database. In-short this system will result in less physical work.

Project Implementation Method

IDEA PROPOSE:

Students and teacher both should propose their idea to each other.

1. RESPONSE TIME:

A specific time must be defined for both teachers and student to response the proposal so that there time save and students can have enough time to approach another teacher.

1. IDEA ACCPETED:

If any student accepted teacher’s idea or teacher accepted student’s idea than it must be displayed to both the teacher and student.

1. DOCUMENT UPLOAD:

Once a group got an internal than all Group proposal, report and other document must be submitted by any group member on the website as well as all teacher can also submit documents like research paper etc and these are visible to both teacher and group members. Also FYP coordinator can also upload documents and those are visible to everyone.

1. GROUP LIMITATION:

All the teachers can have only 4 groups at a time not more than that and more than 4 students are not allowed in a single group.

1. INITIAL SCREEING:

Committee members which is based on panel and fyp coordinator must decide which project are going for the 1st defense and display the list.

1. DEFENSE PREPARATION:

For defense panel, room must be decided and groups should be assign id’s in which they appear .If they got rejected or panel want some modification in their idea than another defense schedule is built for all those group and every detail related to defense schedule will appear on website.

1. PRESENATION PREPARATION:

At time of presentations labs, panel must be decided so that lab must be free at that time and no clash happened and internal should also be present in that lab. It should also be managed that all the group of 1 internal should do their presentation in 1 lab.

1. MID SEMESTER EVALUATION:

To check whether students are doing working and they don’t get burden in the end mid semester evaluation must e done.

1.  MID YEAR EVALUATION:

Mid-year marking must be done and students must be able to see their score.

1.  FINAL YEAR EVALAUATION:

In the end final year must be held where we again have to do all the preparations for lab and panel and internal must give their group a final score on the basis of their work.

1.  PROJECT EXHIBITION:

All the preparations for project exhibition place etc should also be managed in this website where outsiders also came to see project.

1.  DEADLINES:

Deadlines for all the document work must be define so that all the work must be done in a proper and manageable way.

Benefits of the Project

In the world of today, on motion of fingers, we get connected to the whole world. Internet is a modern-day blessing then why not make it beneficial for us. Before the academic year starts, Project Organizes will have to assign project topics according to the preferences and respective domain of the formed project groups. This is a tedious and error prone task to manually complete the allocation of projects for both students and teachers. The system is therefore useful to help Project Organizers to arrange project selection and allocation procedure, as well as helping the students to submit their preferences and group member information. During the academic year, the system would provide different functionalities for the Project Organizer to collect student’s assessments and marks scores via the submission till date.

The languages that we have used to develop front-end are PHP, Bootstrap and CSS. PHP, Hypertext preprocessor is a general purpose programming language and widely used as open source general purpose scripting language that is especially used for web development and can be incorporated within HTML. Bootstrap and CSS are used to make your website more interactive and attractive. Bootstrap contains CSS and HTML design based templates for typography, forms, buttons, tables etc. They enable you to easily create responsive designs.
