Frame work design for the optimization of cutting room efficiency in Apparel Manufacturing Factories by implementing MIS.
Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject SummaryA management information system has been the technique we have employed throughout the project. The role of MIS in the human body is comparable to that of the heart. The MIS fulfills a similar role in the organization. Management information systems (MIS) are comprehensive systems that offer data to decision-makers to aid in their decision-making. MIS is a system to convert data from internal and external sources into information and communicate that information in an appropriate form to managers at all levels in all functions to enable them to make timely and effective decisions for planning, directing, and controlling the activities for which they are responsible. In every sector, implementing a management information system helps to maximize resource usage which increases productivity. The cost of raw material, or fabric, accounts for around 50% to 70% percent of the entire garment cost, whereas total labor costs are only about 10 % of the total to 15 % so even minor fabric waste or savings will have a significant impact on order profits. The cutting room's efficiency is suffering as a result of data inaccessibility. Data is effectively utilized, allowing for increased cutting efficiency and the most efficient use of resources. The goal of management information systems (MIS) is to provide all relevant information for an organization's managerial functions, to provide accurate information at the right time and place at a lower cost, and to ensure that no incorrect or unwanted information is generated, and that data is not overloaded. Our main focus is to resolve major issues so they can improve cutting room efficiency.
Project Objectives- To create a framework for collecting entire raw material information via ERP in the cutting department.
- To create a data management system that will reduce the Work the in Process.
- To reduce the rejection rate in the cutting department, which will improve the quality of the final product.
- To create a framework that will aid in the tracing of raw material and tracking of data.
- To make the best use of resources throughout the cutting department to increase productivity.
The projects include examining the current inter-departmental information system, gap analysis in their connectivity, and the implementation of an improved framework that aids in the optimal consumption of resources, which will minimize waste, work in process, and overall cutting costs.
Benefits of the ProjectThe benefit of this project is to design a complete framework that can collect complete information about raw materials via ERP or Oracle. In this project, we can design some new reports and formats that will ultimately help with the backtracking of fabric. We need to make a proper SOP of the cutting room, which ultimately helps to reduce different types of waste and any errors can be eliminated with the help of data and data can be collected through MIS.
