Fabrication of Active Prosthetic Knee
Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject SummaryProsthetic knee is the replacement of the actual knee that is either lost due to disease, trauma, accident, or condition present at birth. Lots of technological advancements have been made in the field of prosthetics in recent years. The aim of this project is to design, fabricate, and analyze a prosthetic knee that can be either controlled passively or actively using hybrid control systems. Pakistan is a developing country, therefore the cost-effectiveness of the project is the major goal. So as to make it accessible for the middle class as well. This project will be completed using EMG electrodes which detects the bioelectrical activity of human muscles using EMG signals
Project Objectives- Design, analysis and fabrication of prosthetic knee.
- Arduino based feedback control.
- Using EMG electrodes as input to Arduino.
- Cost efficiency.
- Design of model using CAD software.
- Analysis of the design.
- Designing the control system of EMG sensors, Arduino and actuator.
- Fabrication of the prototype.
- Providing a cost-effective prosthetic knee to the amputees.
- Using EMG sensors to take input from muscles instead of weight-activated stance control.
It will be a cost-effective prototype that will take signals from the thigh muscles through EMG sensors. Arduino will read the EMG signals and drive the actuator which will result in the movement of the knee.
