Project Summary

In this study, we have implemented a digital security system contains door lock system using passive RFID and password and alert system using Arduino. A centralized system is being deployed for controlling and transaction operations. The door locking system functions in real time as when the user put the tag in contact with the reader, the door open and the check-in information is stored in central server along with basic information of the user. We utilize RFID technology to provide solution for secure access of a space while keeping record of the user. 

Project Objectives

We are developing a RFID and keypad using GSM and android application for alert security system and for storing database of authorized users. Providing our customer the best security system that is reliable and user friendly.

The RFID reader communicates with the Arduino through the SPI protocol. This work includes, a door security system using the RFID technology including a microcontroller.

In this system which will have two ports, one port is used for the RFID reader, keypad and the other one is for the GSM module using Arduino.

When the RFID card is scanned over the security system box, the card will get detected.

And if the card is valid then the system will ask for a password then after entering password the door will open and will send confirmation message through GSM using Arduino.

If the card or password is invalid then alarm buzzer will turn on and it will send us an alert.

The main purpose of this system is that an authorized person can halt the system by sending a message “close” to Arduino from mobile using GSM. When a message is received the working of the system will stop. It will not scan any tags and will only look for messages.

Project Implementation Method

Our system will try to solve the problem by using two-step verification/security which means that we will use RFID scanner/reader (card), a keypad for entering password and in addition to this system we are going to add GSM module.

Our system will solve the problem as given below:

  • On scanning the wrong tag or on entering the wrong password it will send us an alert message on mobile phone using Arduino.
  • On scanning the right/valid tag or on entering the right password it will send us a confirmation message that the door has opened.
  • We will halt the system by sending ‘close’ message to Arduino and it will only go back to normal mode when we will send the ‘open’ message to Arduino during halt time, it won’t scan any tags and it will only look for message.
  • We will also be able to open the door by sending the message to Arduino.    

Benefits of the Project

Benefits of our project are given below:

  • With the system in place we can also tell exactly when and how people attempted to access our home or office.
  • One of the main advantage of RFID, keypad and GSM using Arduino based security is that we have no need to carry a key with us.
  • We can give access to our home for others at our discretion when we are using RFID door locks.
  • We can halt the system by sending ‘close’ message to Arduino and it will only go back to normal mode when we will send the ‘open’ message to Arduino. During halt time, it won’t scan any tags and it will only look for messages.
  • RFID is more safer then any other key because keys are easily remake able and in card there is special code which cannot be easily change able.
  • Mobile alert system is also the best advantage through which it gives us a whether the card or password we enter is valid or invalid.        

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

  • While filling any information in an android smartphone, it should be possible to roll back to the previous screen at any time, change the data and come back to the current screen
