Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryFairly precise estimate of DOA of an RF signal & hence an RF transmitter usually requires an array of antennas so that direction can be pointed with small probability of error. This method deals with using a single antenna structure to find DOA with good precision. The project would involve first of all devising an AR profile that should be unique for angle estimation, when the axial ratio itself or its derivative is used. Afterwards the required 2D projections of H&V antennas will be determined at various angles (AZ or EL). These 2D projections will then be used to design 3D antenna. This antenna will then be simulated in CST
Project Objectives- Devise a methodology to form a unique AR profile (over a single quadrant at least 0-900) corresponding 2D projections.
- Find 3D antenna structure from 2D projections, simulate and compare its AR with formulated profile.
- Use 2D to 3D projection method for designing the 3D antenna structure.
- Simulate in CST.
- Fabricate and test.
- Understanding of engineering knowledge in the domain of RF and antennas.

- Low cost DOA that may have potential for patent / marketing.
A 3D antenna structure with AR profile that can be used to find DOA with better precision that can otherwise be obtained with single antenna structure (may comprise of 2 to 4 antennas).
