Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject SummaryThis project aims to develop a vision-based smart system based on the detection of humans and their motion. The system will use a camera mounted on R-pi to capture the images and apply image processing techniques to extract useful information like the presence of a human or its movement. The scope of this project is not only limited to the identification of humans and various objects but also to distinguish between a friend & foe i.e. Identification of Friend and Foe (IFF). Moreover, the system would be capable to automate energy utilization as well.
Project ObjectivesOur objective is to develop a human detection system to limit the power consumption and monitor low mobility persons. Therefore, within this framework, we propose a system which has sufficiently robust performances to be usable in uncontrolled environments, the system must be easily tunable and embeddable. In other words, the system must be an optimal compromise between false detection rate and algorithmic complexity.
Project Implementation MethodThe methodology to obtain our desire task is as follow:
- Develop and train an algorithm on a PC that is capable to identify humans and various objects.
- Implement the algorithm on R-pi4 keeping in view the constraints of R-pi4 and complexity of the algorithm.
- Develop a small portable prototype of the system connected to a display via HDMI consisting of R-pi4 and a camera.
- Identification of Friend and Foe (IFF)
- Can be used for video surveillance or security purpose.
- Numerous applications such as low mobility persons monitoring, home automation, robotics, content-based indexing, etc.
Our project consists of raspberry pie 4, camera, relay, electrical appliances.
- The Raspberry Pi is a low cost, credit-card sized computer that plugs into a computer monitor or TV, and uses a standard keyboard and mouse. The raspberry pi in our project is used to run the code which performs image detection.
- Camera is used to take images and videos in real time that is used in our project.
- Relays will be used to switch currents in the circuit. It will be switch current between raspberry pie and electrical appliances.
- At the end, the algorithm will be able to control the electrical appliances.
