Project Summary

The system which will surpass the traditional windmill, in generating electricity by the use of wind power. It is a better and advance version of traditional windmill, which will help to sustain the increasing demand of electricity. The windmill system does not depend on any other energy to rotate itself in the direction of wind. It has a omni directional architecture in the form of rotating blades, which works in every direction. The System has a Atmega328 microcontroller which smartly senses charge that the windmill is producing while displaying the voltage on the LCD.

  • A mini windmill compact in size which will rotate with ambient wind speed will be able to produce electric power which can be stored or directly utilized to run an equipment.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

We came up with a mini design of vertical axis windmill, which is compact in size and can be installed on the top of the house or factory etc.

Wind mill dimensions & material

Windmill blade - Aluminium

Width = 100mm

          Thickness = 1.5mm

Length = 300mm

Blade holder plate – Mild steel

         Diameter = 340mm

         Thickness = 1mm

Shaft for blade holder plate –Aluminium

Diameter = 12mm

Length = 360mm

Motor mounting plate –Mild steel

Length x breadth = 80mm x 80mm

Thickness = 2mm

Rod between all plates –Alluminium

 Diameter = 10mm

Base plate for windmill –Mildsteel

Length x breadth – 200mm x 200mm

Thickness = 2mm

Overall dimensions of windmill dimension

Diameter = 400mm

Height = 500mm

We use atmega328 controller and an additional circuitary to calculate the amount of volts being produced
