Design and Analysis of Consequent Pole Outer Rotor Vernier Generator
This project proposes a new outer-rotor permanent-magnet (PM) Vernier generator with consequent pole for direct-drive wind power generation, which can offer low-speed operation to directly capture wind power, and enable high-speed rotating ?eld design to maximize the power density. The outer-rotor permanent-magnet (PM) Vernier generator with consequent pole will be designed in JMAG software and various characteristics such as output voltage, efficiency will be examined. The optimum design of Outer Rotor Permanent Magnet Consequent Pole Vernier Generator will be fabricated and validated experimentally. Main focus during design will be to keep the design as simple and efficient as possible to deduct the price of machine and can get maximum output from it. It is expected that the proposed design will have low cost of permanent magnet due to consequent pole configuration. Beside low cost design, the proposed design has outer rotor configuration that can directly be connected to the blades of turbine. Moreover, outer rotor offer higher torque density than normal machines with no overhang structure and thus it is more efficient due to less losses
Following are the main objectives of the proposed Project.
The implementation of our project consists of the following two parts.
1) Simulation
2) Hardware
For the simulation purpose JMAG software will be used. In JMAG the proposed Outer Rotor Consequent Pole Vernier Generator will be designed. In the hardware part hardware for ORCPVG will be fabricate.

Consequent poles arrangement will be used in project by which number of magnetic poles are reduced as compared to normal machines. Hence, the cost of machine will be reduced by using less magnets as compared to other Vernier generators. Moreover outer rotor offer higher torque density than normal machines with no overhang structure and thus it is more efficient because of less losses. Owing to these characteristics, this type of machine will result to be smart choice for potential investor. It can also be used for wind turbine system and it can be attached directly with rotor of wind turbine because of outer rotor. Besides it will not affect the rotational speed of wind turbine system due to small size. It can be used in wheel direct drive system for the electric vehicle (EV) due to the fact that it has high torque and low speed. The most important factor for a project to be commercially potential is cost. In this design less number of rare-earth permanent magnet will be used hence it will have high market value and maximum demand for commercial use.
