Project Summary

Different EBG unit cells were designed and optimized using CST MW Studio. The structures were Mushroom, Swestika, and Cross Hair. The unit cells were populated into an array to place the cells in a linear patch antenna array of 2 elements. The performance of all the structures was compared and the best was fabricated for a practical design. The results were well in agreement with the measured results.

1- Design of Unit Cells of Mushroom, Swestika, and Cross Hair EBGs at 4 GHz.

2- Performance improvement of linear antenna array using the designed EBG unit cells.

3- Comparative study of the designed EBG cells for optimal performance in antennas.

3- Population of Unit Cells into arrays.

4- Performace study of the EBGs in linear antenna arrays.

5- Fabrication of the optimal EBG design for antennas.
