Project Summary

Project was on Comparative analysis of used cooking oil and used engine oil as an admixture in concrete. In this project 126 specimen were casted from which 63 was cubes and 63 was cylinder on the 7,14 and 21 days of curing. The specimens were casted with the ratio of 0.2% , 0.4% and 0.6% of used cooking oil and used engine oil by the weight of cement. The ratio of mix design was 1:1.5:3.84.After Casting and curing the specimens were tested by the Universal Testing Machine (UTM) and graphs were generated and results was finalized.

Project Objectives

The main objective of this project was increase the workability by adding both oils and analyse which oil gave more convineient results.By adding used cooking oil the workability increase more as compare to control mix and used engine oil.

Project Implementation Method

First of all the Mix design ratio is designed for concrete and then estimation of material was done. After that material was collected from sites and testing of material was started in the Material lab of civil engineering department Isra University Hyderabad. After material testing the specimens were casted for 7, 14 and 21 days of curing after curing the testing of specimen was done by UTM machine and graphs are generated. At the end the results was concluded under strict observation of supervisor.

Benefits of the Project

The project benefits society, as we all know that admixtures of concrete are very much costly and everyone cannot afford it so we use waste engine oil which is discarded from engines and waste cooking oil which is discarded from homes. We use that waste materials as an admixture in concrete to increase workability and reduce the cost of admixtures in concrete. After using both oils we analyze that the used cooking oil is more beneficial then engine oil and can be used in concrete as an admixture.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The Results was concluded  with graph and mentioned in thesis. All the Introduction , Material Collection, Methodology and results ,suggestion were given in the final thesis.
