In healthcare field growing adoption of  Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) systems proves that RFID is a positive asset for healthcare institutions. RFID has the ability of saving organization time and cost by enabling traceability of data in real time like identification, communication, temperature and location. However there are some challenges in RFID systems like  financial, technical and most importantly privacy and security. For this reason we are focusing on introducing blockchain technology, Information about the medicine product is added through the decentralized application (DApp), which interfaces through the smart contract with the blockchain . Smart contracts and blockchain technology solve current centralized systems issues like single point of failure and lack of trust. We have designed our system for healthcare supply chain environment by using a prototype which will add only those medicine assets to supply chain and to buyer that are associated with RFID tag and have transaction on blockchain network.Our system is deployed in Testnet environment for determining the technical feasibility. 
Project Objectives

Our objective is to make a prototype for tracking and tracing of medicine using RFID with Blockchain. Our system will provide knowledge about the supply chain to help authorities and the consumer weather the medicine is fake or original. This will store all the information of the product securely and also sense and track whether medicine is stored in optimal temperature or not.  
 
Main objectives of this Prototypes will be :-

? Track and trace the medicine through its supply chain

? Tell us weather it is real or fake

? Tell us about the conditions in which it is stored  

? To reduce the supply of counterfeit and unapproved drugs 
 
 

Project Implementation Method

Our project prototypes will use two technologies RFID and Blockchain. The open source prototype system based on RFID technology will be implemented using different wireless communication protocols for each phase of the info tracing ?ow. All of these information will be validated and then stored securely into chain (Blockchain) by an operator. Through the RFID antennas the tags are read in the various phases, through a portable reader.  
 

Benefits of the Project
Our project prototypes will use two technologies RFID and Blockchain. All of these information will be validated and then stored securely into chain (Blockchain) by an operator.\
Our protoype will provide full database of healthcare supply chain information and time stamp  of every event will be recorded and stored inside our Blockchain. All the transactions will be inside our smart contract so it will be easily available to the user that want to check any record. As we are using RFID, This will provide automation in readings the detail about the medicine product.\
by using this prototype you can confirm about the medicine whether real or fake, or have medicine been purchased or selling illegally. Moreover user can check about the temperature in which medicine  has been stored and the optimal temperature for medicine.

This prototype will help the authorities for reducing the supply of counterfeit and unapproved drugs, by checking the information in database they can verify the validation of medicine product.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable
Blockchain will provide us a secure database for storing information and exchange of product and RFID will provide us automation with a wireless reading capability from a range. This will reduce the time of data entry while shipping the medicine products.\
Combining RFID tags with blockchain technology makes it possible to create secure, end-to-end global supply chains that eliminate the risk of counterfeit goods entering the system, reduce management complexity and increase transparency.Clients data would be stored on the decentralized server so no manipulation would be possible as the Blockchain network is immutable, Moreover data about the medicine can be check at any time through a Blockchain. All the transactions will be available in smart contract.
  
We have designed a decentralized application (Dapp) in which information about the medicine/ product will be added and hash of the transaction will be stored inside the RFID tag using RFID reader, Arduino Uno is used as the communication bridge b/w hardware (RFID) and the Software (Dapp) through which instructions will be shared b/w both. For reading information RFID reader wull read the hash from medicine tag and the Dapp will get the required information from the blockchain.
Our proposed System flow Diagram is shown below, all the information is stored in blockchain through wich dapp will get the information by a smart contract.
