Project Summary

We are working on auttomatic lawn mower. Automated lawn mower is the lawn mower which cuts the grass automatically using microcontroller.  In front of the lawn mower, an ultrasonic sensor is mounted, that means it will be automatic avoid collision with obstacles along its pathway. Automated lawn mower also can be adjustable for the cutting tool about 1cm~3cm, this function is to let the user choose which height we want to cut the grass. A motor controller is used which will be in turn connected with micro controller. It will get the input from microcontroller to control each and every moment of the lawn mower.

Project Objectives

Following are the main aims and objectives of our Project; 
? Equip a given mechanical lawnmower setup with the motor drivers and other required circuitry. 
? Make the robot autonomous to a certain degree by implementing an obstacle avoidance algorithm. 
? Establish a lower level of control for the basic locomotion of the lawnmower 
? Integrate the setup with a higher level of control for decision making and path planning.

Project Implementation Method

Benefits of the Project

 I don’t have a magical crystal ball that tells me exactly what our mowers will look like or do in the future, but I think I have made some pretty good guesses here. Increased expenditure on activities - landscaping, backyard beautification and cookouts, and garden parties, along with the need to save time on lawn maintenance activities, are driving the adoption of robotic lawn mowers in this end use sector. The commercial sector, in the recent past, has been staunchly inclining towards automation in order to achieve operational efficiency. Robotic lawn mower market players are tapping into this opportunity to uncover new revenue lines. Lawn mowers are quickly becoming a viable source of supplemental labor for lawn mowing jobs and he recommends more companies take time to investigate whether or not these machines have a place in their operations. Due to their low noise level and low maintenance requirements, robotic mowers have also become increasingly popular for use around universities, hospitals, nursing homes, motels and similar establishments. 

It reduces human effort.  It has simpler design than most commercial mowers. This type of mower is cheaper than commercial mowers.  It has wider range more than conventional mechanical mowers due to absence of main supply wire.  It aids elderly users or those with disabilities who are unable to fulfill this task themselves.
