Automatic irrigation system using IOT
This project senses the moisture content of soil and automatically switches the pump on and off when the moisture level is low then required value. In this project an automation of farm and soil moisture is done by Arduino using soil moisture sensors. Keeping in mind the current electricity shortfall, Power to the project will be given from Dual Axis Solar System. Apart from moisture sensor, Temperature, pressure and ph sensor will also be used which will give the information related temperature and ph of the soil.
For easy access of the user a mobile application will also be made for making this project easily understandable and user friendly. A link will also be given in the application which will help the user to get each and every information about the soil and the instruments used in the hardware. The application will be automatically updated each time the user log’s in. All the required values of pH and moisture for a specific crop will be given in that link which will help the user to understand the quantity of fertilizer and water his soil needs for best output.
The basic objective of this project is to remove the approximation system from our agriculture system. As Pakistan is an agricultural country and our economy also depends upon agriculture. This project will help the farmers to get the maximum output from their soil.
The other basic objective of this project is to save the underground water resources. As the agriculture system depends upon approximation so the farmers don't know that how much water soil needs so with the help of the moisture sensor we will be able to give the exact quantity of water to soil and save extra water.
The 3rd major Objective is that the power will be used from Dual Axis Solar power System, keeping in mind the current electricity shortfall in the country.
The automatic irrigation system was designed to continuously sense the moisture level of the soil.The system responds appropriately by watering the soil with the exact required amount of water and then shuts down the water supply when the required level of soil moisture is achieved. The reference level of soil moisture content was made to be adjustable for the three most common soil samples (sandy, loamy and clayey soils.
The moisture sensors were designed using probes made from corrosion-resistant material which can be stuck into soil sample. Voltage levels corresponding to the wet and dry states of the soil sample were computed by measuring the resistance between the moisture detector probes and matching them to output voltages of a comparator circuit. A submersible low-noise micro water pump was developed to deliver the water to the appropriate parts of the soil (the base of the plants). The volume of water required for irrigation per time was computed by considering the capacity of the water pump and the water channels. The required irrigation time was determined by considering the response time of the water pump and the water volume required per irrigation instance. A timing circuit was designed to use the required irrigation time to control the duration of each irrigation instance. Simulations were done using Proteus™circuit simulation software.
operational feasibility:
our country most of the farming system is based on estimation and most of them have no knowledge about when and what are the basics needs of soil.
Due to these reasons they cannot get the benefits what they actually can get.
So the aim is to build such system which will basically increase the ratio of productivity.
Our project will be user friendly and so easy in use that even a lay man can understand easily how to operate it.
Economic Feasibility:
is economically feasible to us because here we have use the efficient method of cost analysis and budget of our project. It helps in identifying profit against investment expected from a project. It Increased agency revenue, agency costs and other public benefits. We will demonstrate the net benefit of a proposed project for accepting or disbursing electronic funds/benefits, taking into consideration the benefits and costs to the agency, other state agencies, and the general public as a whole. The economic state of our project is highly feasible in which every resource is optimally allocated to serve each individual or entity in the best way while minimizing waste and inefficiency. Any changes made to assist one entity would harm another when an economy is economically efficient.
In Pakistan the existing agriculture techniques are not technically feasible. Therefore we develop an android application and connect Arduino processor with sensors through IOT technology. Therefore our project is totally technical feasible. Our system based on different sensor which will connect with Arduino processor. These will be compatible.
With these technology will help to save time and increase productivity.
