billing systems is a need in shopping malls and supermarkets. As the customer comes into the mall, purchases the product, and then puts it in a trolley, besides looking for the item and then putting it in the trolley, the
customer will have to wait in a queue for billing. In the billing process, an employee scans the products using the barcode and then generates the bill. This process takes a lot of time, and the other problem is
that what if the bill goes over the budget of the customer? To overcome these problems, the trolleys in the malls will be equipped with a smart automated billing system using RFID.
The Smart Trolley will feature an RFID reader and an LCD module. Each product will have an RFID card, and upon putting it in the trolley, the product card will be scanned. It will display the product cost and other
details on the LCD of the trolley and also on the mobile application. If the customer's budget goes over or the customer changes their mind, the products can be removed and the price deducted. The total cost will
be added to the system and can be seen on both the LCD and mobile applications.
This will reduce the amount of billing time and manpower required and will also provide a better shopping experience for both the customer
and the workers at the mall.
Project ObjectivesThe primary objective of this initiative is to reduce the number of time customers spend in long checkout queues. Billing at the point of sale is simple and quick, eliminating staff requirements.
Project Implementation MethodWe have successfully built this new system, which is desperately needed by both businesses and customers. This system is far more advantageous, efficient, and effective than the bar code scanning system, thus adapting it will save both the customer's and the market's time.
Benefits of the ProjectCustomers will benefit from this project because long lines at the checkout will be avoided, and shopping will be faster because billing will be done in real time. Customers will be able to see the total amount of their bill and proceed to checkout without worrying about long lines or going over budget.
