Automate Garbage Detection
This project is a Drone based application with the goal to help improve and optimize garbage collection by detection of garbage through image processing. Our aim is to use drones to take aerial photos or videos of specific areas that are less accessible to allow monitoring which could save on expensive monitoring currently done on foot over rough terrain. The project aims to improve the understanding of drone technology in combination with image processing and to help adopt drones into standard workflows by utilizing the resulting data to improved safety, accuracy and timely alerts to reduce overall operating costs required in a typical garbage collection mechanism. Also by using image processing and drone we will be able to provide a comprehensive overview of the specific area much faster than a ground inspection. By surveying from the air, we will be able to provide more efficient, cheaper, and accurate topographical and volume data about garbage density in a specific area.
