Augmented Reality (AR) is gaining popularity from past few years. This technology provides a platform where a user can combine the real world and virtual world together. The blend of virtual objects in real time scenario’s make computer more interactive for user. Currently this technology is used in many disciplines of life e.g. (health, marketing, learning, sports, shopping, painting and medicines etc.) and education is one of them. There are numerous ways to implementing AR in classrooms and 3D modeling is one of them. The blend of AR and image processing technologies with the advance capabilities of hardware (e.g. mobile phones, tablets, smart boards etc.) facilitate the teachers as well as children’s in indoor (classroom based) learning. The proposed software solution enhanced the student’s indoor learning skills with the help of android, image processing and 3D modeling techniques. The proposed concept will enhance the children understanding capabilities by providing the common science based objects (plants, animals) live 3D modeling. The basic modules of the projects will be: capturing, 3D modeling and labialization. This project will not only facilitate the children and teachers but also help the researchers to explore this field in learning discipline.
The basic objective of the proposed software are :
For the successful implementation of the project unified processing modeling approched will be used. The project will be splitted into two basic modules. These are client side and server side. The client side provides the interface to the whole server features. It is further categorized into two sections. In the first section children capture the images from their course book through smart mobile phones. The server will generate the 3D models for the captured images. The second section of the client side interface provide an interactive collaborative learning capability using smart boards. The teachers mirror the lessons in the form of 3D models so that the students will labelized the 3D model elements and provide the concepts clarity to the teachers.
From an educational point of view, this project will offers various different benefits.
Through this project teachers can design more interactive lessons and students will be even more engaged in the learning process.
This project will provide the clarity of the concept and teacher will evalute the student more easily and efficiently.
At the end of the project we submitted the report and code of our project to the university authorities.
