Project Summary

Augmented Reality for Zoo (ZAR) is a AR mobile system which will guide and will make the zoo informative and interactive. Because our surrounding environment is too complex, and it provide us a lot of information which is sometime difficult to understand. So for many applications, AR technology has turned to be a more interesting approach. In AR technology the view of real scene is modified by computer, which adds virtual elements over real environment elements. An advantages of AR is that the real environment will not disturbed at all. Augmented Reality is getting more important every day, encouraged by the smart phones and tablets revolutions. These devices will define a new way of seeing, thinking and understanding the reality. 
As we mentioned that our project is for “Peshawar Zoo”. So we can conclude some objectives from zoo, which shows that on what basis “Peshawar Zoo” is constructed. In short ZAR provide robust and capable platform for educational messaging, visitor experience, information delivery and knowledge retention. 

Our project on AR app system will enhance the visitor experience, generate incremental revenue and attract new visitors from Peshawar as well as outside the city and province to increase the ratio of tourists. The Peshawar Zoo will be the first in Pakistan to showcase the revolutionary broadcast augmented reality technology, while educating our visitors about animals. 
 

Project Objectives

The main objectives of making augmented reality project for “Peshawar Zoo” was:

• To spread awareness among citizens of Peshawar.
• To make citizens informative and interactive by using AR App system.
• To educate the animal lovers about the behavior of animals. To localize the content. 

ZAR specializes in the design and development of Augmented Reality exhibits at Peshawar Zoo

Project Implementation Method

For experiences an augmented reality inside in smart phone, it must contain a camera with motion and detection sensor, GPS sensor (Global Positing Sensor), Accelerometer Sensor and Compass Sensor. On top of this a smart phone (in which we can experiencing an augmented reality) should also have significant processing power. We will face issue like rise from accuracy of GPS sensors. Camera performance can be enhanced through the use of 2D QR and barcode markers. There will be a multi user experience limitation, as a result, people who download such applications can benefits from a single-user experience alone. 

Benefits of the Project

ZAR will be an application that will give information about the animals of Peshawar Zoo it will spread awareness about likes, dislikes of the animals, it will also help students in the form of platform of application where interface will be interesting because mostly students use smart phones so it will be so easy for them to use simple application that will entertain them and also will give information about animals. Moreover it will increase the number of visitors for zoo if they’ll came to know about ZAR many of them would like to use it and test it so it will affect the revenue of zoo and through this ZAR is also helping zoo management in economical aspect.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

We will deliver an AR App System for Peshawar Zoo that the visitors of zoo will get more information about zoo and animals in a technological way. In Pakistan there is no such zoo which involve technology for entertainment and educational purpose. 
The technical thing involved is that

It will be Application which will contain detection property of sign boards. After detecting sign board it will pop up menu to select either history,images or video of that animal than on history their are further two options of english and urdu about that detected animal sign board.
