Project Title

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE BASED ENERGY MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL SYSTEM

Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject Summary

According to UNITED NATIONS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS report, Pakistan's Power sector deficits average 4,000 megawatts which is the main cause of the power breakdowns and load-shedding in peak seasons. It gets even worst due to the presence of Transmission end and Consumer end losses. Considerable amount of research literature has been published to counter Transmission end losses. However, less literature has been reported on the consumer end losses. Thus the focus of the presented work is on consumer end losses. In our daily life, we utilize a lot of energy each day from charging electronics devices to heavy motors. In fact, in 2014, the average Pakistan residential household consumed 5,982 kWh of electricity and spent around Rs.100,000 annually on utility bill [1].

In order to solve the consumer end losses, an efficient Artificial Intelligence-based Energy Control and Management System is proposed. It serves as the caretaker of all the energy-related affairs at consumer end (workplaces/homes/industry) and provides easy access to the user in a friendly way. The proposed design can be managed through the selection of efficient appliances and by utilizing AI algorithms, it also estimates the energy consumption in a pre-defined budget. The designed system consists of both Hardware and Software in an integrated device.

The proposed project can be implemented in houses as well as in industry. Furthermore, the proposed system not only save energy but it also utilized the appliances within the consumer's prescribed budget.
