According to a recent World Health Organization (WHO) report, the most lethal diseases causing major deaths are heart attacks, strokes, cancer, and respiratory diseases, particularly in low and middle-income countries. Because the elderly and patients with these diseases' symptoms require continuous monitoring of their abnormalities, the cost of treatment and care for these diseases is significantly higher, particularly in low-income and developing countries.

Healthcare monitoring systems based on smartwatches have the potential to improve everyday health by enabling self-monitoring of health and personal activity. There are numerous smartwatches available that can easily monitor a patient's health and help them avoid risks. A wearable smartwatch contains a variety of sensors that are used to monitor human activities such as heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, oxygen level in the blood, movement, pulse rate, calories burned, and so on. Patient data is monitored on a daily basis and sent to the desired user or medical doctor, but the reading accuracy of available smartwatches, such as Apple smartwatches and Fitbit, is not satisfactory according to medical standard requirements. Thus, the goal of this project is to redesign improved reading accuracy algorithms for heart rate and blood pressure sensors used to monitor the health of patients/athletes/users. We're also keeping an eye on the patient's body temperature and blood oxygen levels. Humans require oxygen to survive. If the patient's blood oxygen level falls below a certain level, he or she will die. To address this issue, we propose a smart unit in a smartwatch system that will monitor the oxygen level and, if it falls below a certain level, will alert the caretaker and also send an alert message to a medical doctor for optimal treatment of her critical health level. Furthermore, we are monitoring the patient's defective sitting position, such as when the patient sits on the sofa incorrectly, which may cause pain in his or her specific organs. When a patient falls, it is monitored to notify the caregiver as soon as possible and to send an alert message to a medical doctor for optimal treatment if the patient requires it.

As a result, we are integrating various health monitoring sensors into a single unit as a smartwatch to display all information required for a normal person's survival. If a criticality in health is detected, this smartwatch will send an alert signal/message to the caregiver as well as the medical doctor to recommend an optimal treatment on the spot.

Project Objectives
  1. To design and develop improved algorithms for the reading accuracy of HR, RR, BP, Temperature sensors during health monitoring of patient/sportsman/user using smart watch interface.
  2. To develop an efficient algorithm for sensors to detect the defective sitting of a patient/user that is not allowed by the medical doctor while monitoring the health.
  3. To develop an efficient algorithm for patient to detect fall down using various sensors and inform the caretaker and medical doctor immediately using smartwatch.
  4. To inform the medical doctor and caretaker immediately if a patient feels his health criticality severe like heart attack using alert signal information sent to medical doctor and care taker for optimal actions.

   Develop a Smart Mobile App contains all sensing information about the patient, and also inform caretaker and medical doctor for an optimal treatment.

Benefits of the Project

The benifits of this project is to overcome the effort and provide facility to the patient to get proper treatment on time and get daily checkup using smart watch. The smart watch will inform the caretaker and medical doctor if patient health gets serious using alert messaging like auto call, SMS or alert based signal can also send and inform the concerns. If a patient have a respiratory disease and the patient's oxygen level in blood becomes low or high so it will inform the caretaker and medical doctor using alert messaging like auto call, SMS or alert based signal.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final deliverable of this project will include a smart watch and mobile app. Smart watch will include to monitor Heart Rate, Blood Pressure, Temperatue, Oxygen Level, Fall detection, defective sitting etc and will the daily report through wifi or GSM to the connected mobile.
