ACADEMIC DEPARTMENT COORDINATION INFORMATION SYSTEM (ADCIS)
In a general sense, the term information system (IS) refers to a system of people, data records and activities that process the data and information in an organization, and it includes the organization's manual and automated processes. The primary benefit of information systems is their ability to provide a user with the information needed to do any task effectively and efficiently. Computer databases and paper records provide data, but information systems provide the appropriate data about each user’s tasks in a format best suited to that user. Information systems can present real-time or archived data as needed and are adaptable to new or modified information requirements. HEIs, in this retrospect have much to gain benefit from the deployment of Information Systems for achieving the transition in terms of “Induction”, “Development” and “Becoming” (James T.C Teng, 2017). It is to be appreciated that the three transition states are having a pre dominant dependency upon the utility of Information Systems in the specific context of its realizable benefits that is the provision of
The subject Final Year Project titled “Academic Department Coordination Information System” is based upon investigating and exploring the above stated strength of Information Systems in realizing coordination objectives of an Academic Department. For the mentioned purpose the office of Departmental Coordinator- Computer Science Department has been selected as a case for both practical and research oriented exploration. The outcome of this exploration will lead to the development of an Information System designed to offer the above stated benefits of Information System to Departmental Coordinator as user of the system. In view of the same, the project can be regarded as both carrying research and practical implications.
The project is having the following stated broad objectives
The project will be developed through Incremental Development. This approach of development divides the project into increments which simplifies the project in more convenient way and one can deliver a working software after completion of every feature increment.
4.1 Build an overall Model
The complete knowledge of project and the particular platform will be analyzed. Research will be conducted on problems, which are faced by Departmental Coordinators in universities.
4.2 Build Feature List
On the basis of knowledge gathered through Primary and Secondary Research, all essential features of the system will be elaborated through Functional and Non Functional requirement decomposition.
4.3 Plan by Feature
The development plan of features will organize in this plan. Features will be divided into further sub-features so that the functionality of each feature can be reviewed and plan properly. Planning involve how each feature will develop and interact with other one.
4.4 Design by Feature
All possible UML diagrams will be designed in this phase.
4.5 Develop by Feature
Each feature will develop on criteria cited below:
Interfaces / webpages of each feature.
Integration of interfaces / webpages with database using Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP).
Enable user rights.
By following black box testing technique, each feature after development process will go through unit and integration testing.
The Project will resolved the departmental coordination issues of the following
The stated job will be completed through the following
Being an Exploratory Research, following steps will be undertaken
Following Hardware will also be required for the Project
