Around 40% of deaths are caused due to contaminated water in the world [1]. Hence, there is a necessity to ensure supply of purified drinking water for the people both in cities and villages. Water Quality Monitoring (WQM) is a cost-effective and efficient system designed to monitor drinking water quality which makes use of Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
Project Objectives- To measure critical water quality parameters such as physical and chemical properties.
- To collect data from various sensors nodes and send it to base station via wireless channels.
- Notification alert in case of Water pollution(Optional SMS alert)
- Wirelessly monitor water quality via mobile app.

Project Implementation MethodThe proposed system consists of several sensors to measure various parameters such as pH value, the turbidity and conductivity in the water
Benefits of the Project- The WQM system will use the latest type of IoT, by using advance sensors and hardware for accurate and fast water monitoring. Also, in water the sensors immediately response to the application through a notification. The system also facilitates the user with a choice of affordability through the hardware. It will reduce the time to measure the parameters. It is economically affordable for common people and will track the quality of water in real-time. It will generate a notification in case of any pollution occurs in water quality or SMS alert (that is optional optional).
- The project is largely depending on the network connection of the devices. If there is some fault on the device or the network connection failed, the system will not work as expected.
- The system is water-resistant but not waterproof.
- System will also be not able to measure the harmful dissolve substances in water such and venom of some kind.
- It will measure only the physical parameters of water which can be measured by sensors.
- Since the sensor will be always resident in water that may lead to the layer of fungus developed on them. This might cause low in accuracy.
