Project Summary

Waste can be both a problem and an asset. If waste is not taken care of properly, it can harm both people and the environment. Consequently, waste should be recovered as much as possible, either as material, humus and nutrients or energy. Waste can thus be seen as an important resource. Recycle city is a mobile application for citizens for the collection of sorted waste door to door, scheduled, generalized location & trash for reward. Within the span of about 10 years mobile technology has moved from being the technology for a privileged few to essentially a mainstream technology. The growth is conspicuous in developing countries where they serve as a substitute. Giving citizens a quick and easy trash pickup. By providing real-time status via the app, citizens can help reduce overflowing and messy bins, making the city greener, cleaner and free of litter and enabling them to be more environmentally responsible for waste disposal. Recycle city will be increase more employment and finances for users and government. It would be useful to categorize potential uses of app in waste management in to different dimensions, the users, collector, operators, and stakeholders. Taking into account the growing population, which in just over ten years between 1999 and 2011 increased by 1 billion people and reached 7 billion people and is estimated to be 9.7 billion by 2050, the increasing of industrialization and urbanization. Man can no longer afford to manage waste as waste, but has to use it as a resource.

Project Objectives

The overall objectives and Contributions of Recycle city are summarized below: 
 To assess the activities involved for the betterment of society
 To identify any potential environmental impacts from the generation of waste 
 To command with appropriate waste handling and disposal measures / routings in   accordance collection 
 To categories’ waste material to be sorted (inert material / waste fractions) for disposal considerations i.e. public filling areas / landfill and warehouse for waste sorting.

Project Implementation Method

The scope of the project is constrained to applications of appropriate and sustainable modules such as registration, waste pick-up schedule, generalized location, plan based bill and lastly, reward generation. This research work is not waste disposal application in the broader sense; it is just a part of it.

Benefits of the Project

Waste management is defined as the discipline associated with control of generation, storage, collection, transport or transfer, processing and disposal of waste materials in a way that best addresses the range of public health, conservation, economic, aesthetic, engineering, and other environmental considerations. Its scope includes planning, administrative, financial, engineering, and legal functions and last but not least tech people.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The two main requirement determined prior to the implementation of collection and management system are functional and non-functional requirements. Recycle city’s Functional Requirements are collector which will be having access of location of trash to be picked by optimized routes. The administrator system who is performing admin role. The citizen the user of app being an impact on society. And Non-functional features includes software requirement, operating system and Cloud for storage.

A garbage collector is able to access the system as a garbage collector, view the location of homes on the map for the trash to be collected and get optimized routes for collection. 

The Administrator is able to access the system as an administrator, add, add users, and view the waste types and managing reward alongside marketplace 

The User is able to be authenticated registered user upon login, fetch and display the schedules and their reward.

The application should be easy to use. The system must be designed such that less response time, it should have loading pages and refresh time should be good. The system must be user friendly and easy to install avoiding frequent failures. It includes software requirement like operating system CPU and WLAN and location devices (Wi-Fi and location enabled devices).
