In this project we will develop an android based virtual reality application that will display a 360 degree pre recorded images in both mono and stereo modes. User will be able to interact with this app by performing small motions on the smartphone for example tilting forward will let the user to move in forward direction, turning the smartphone around will show 360 degree view in the turned direction. Concentrating on a landmark point will provide text information about that part of the scene, etc. This will be achieved by using videos from 360 degree cameras and interaction will be implemented using IMU sensors. The objective of this project is to provide better visiting experience to the remote people who may be interested to visit our campus.
Virtual tour based technology although not new but is very limited in terms of user immersiveness and satisfaction. With emerging VR technology and many relevant sensors it is becoming increasingly feasible to design virtual tours that will provide users with interaction (on demand more information) and a feeling of presence. This project will provide better experience to the people who want to virtually visit our campus. This will be developed as a VR mobile application using 360 degree camera based pre recorded images, displayed interactively based on user actions. This interaction will be made possible using the inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensor present in smartphones.
Project is implement by using android studio and Unity 3D. first we will capture the whole campus by using 360 camera then we will extract images from captured videos by opencv android sdk. then we develope application in which we use imu sensors and attach it with Head mounted device.
This project will provide better experience to the people who want to virtually visit our campus. From home you can easily visit to campus by just android app and HMD device.
final deliverable will be application in which pre recorded 360 videos are already. we just need Head mounted device for tour,
