Vehicle Parking Management using Image Processing
In this project, we introduced a vision-based vacancy parking area detecting method for NED University. The main contribution of this project is given as follows.
First, an image processing algorithm is used to detect empty parking areas from images of the parking space. The algorithm processes the image, extracts occupancy information concerning spots, and their positions thereof. The system also reports if individual parking spots are occupied or otherwise empty. Occupancy information is made available to newly arriving drivers. This parking system reduces the stress and time wastage associated with car parking and makes the management of such areas less costly.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) research has been making huge progress in the machine’s capability of Human-level understanding across the spectrum of perception, reasoning, and planning. Many of the researchers and problem solvers tried to have the system with maximum accuracy; All these models were trained on lined parking space or parking areas where markings are already made.
We planned to achieve it a bit different way i.e. the dust ground or temporary parking places where no white markings are marked nor there are such allotted positions. We are targeting the NED University parking area near Ali Photostat were students and teachers parked their vehicles at a random place where they wish that create some fuzziness and inner parking slot left empty. To have maximum Car parking and digital allotment of the car is the part of the program; that costs less fuzziness to students to park their vehicles in a suitable position easily and attend the class on time or teacher to be on time.
NED parking management are going to be the beneficiary of this project as currently the guest or student is directed by a watchman or parking in-charge that wherever to park however this app can directly guide the guest or student to their parking destination And not solely NED however each institute that has parking area will be helpful by this product just like the areas wherever temporary car parking zone is formed like throughout PSL match. The parking zone will be examined and maximum vehicles will be parked with none wastage of space-time and fuel.
The final product will consist multiple cameras which will capture the whole area of parking zone and that footage will be delivered to the computer system; Where first of all the boundary of parking area will be extracted deducting the area which is not our region of interest then the virtual parking lines will be drawn using computer vision tool after that each parking lot will be check for that whether there is car parked or not the final image will be delivered to the Android application which will give the graphical interface to the user
