It is recognized that cities are becoming increasingly crowded in terms of visitors, inhabitants and vehicles. The increase in the number of vehicles has led to an increase in traffic, which has led to an increase in the number of road traffic accidents. A recent World Health Organization (WHO) report showed that every year 1.35 million people die and 50 million people get injured. Road accidents are ranked as the eighth leading cause of deaths (up from ninth in its previous report in 2015), with the Association for Safe International Road Travel (ASIRT) predicting that it may rise to the fifth leading cause of deaths in the near future, unless drastic changes occur. As well as the social harm caused by road traffic accidents, there is a significant cost. ASIRT estimates that between one and two percent of the annual budget of every country is spent on road accidents.

Recently, there has been a global increase in the annual number road traffic deaths, even in developed countries with good road safety measures. However, it remains the case that the greatest burden of road traffic fatalities and injuries lies in low- and middle-income countries. For example, in Pakistan, an average of 15 people loss their life each day to such accidents. Information from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows that 9582 accidents have resulted in 4036 deaths, demonstrating that there is, on average, more than one death in every two road accidents.

This system will be used to reduce the accidents rate and its after effects providing help as soon as possible. The sensors are programmed to work in coordination with the situation. There are basically two phases in the system.

The main focus of the first phase of this system is to alert the driver about the neighboring vehicle by using sensors and alarm system. When the neighboring vehicle come close at some certain specified distance to the vehicle in which all the sensors are embedded an alarm based alert system will start that will help driver to take some action to avoid the accident.

The second phase will serve in case of accident. It will alert the specified person about the emergency situation by sending text message and location of accident. It will also report to the nearest hospital about the accident that will help in saving the life of the victim.

Project Objectives

The main objectives to develop this system are:

  1. To aware driver about the situation of accident before it occurs by providing idea of other vehicles that are close to driver’s vehicle.
  2. To reduce risk of Accidents.
  3. To provide first aid as soon as possible in case if accident occurs.
  4. To inform victims relative automatically when an accident occurs.
Project Implementation Method

There are two phases of the project. The first phase include accident detection using PIR sensors that will detect the nearby vehicles and aler the driver when a vehicle come close at some certain distance. arduino will be the heart of the project. the second phase include accident prevention. in this phase i will use GPS and GSM module that will help to locate the accident and to inform the nearby hospital for this Google Maps API will be used. An android will be provided to the user of this system in which the user will sign up and provide each and every detail about himself that will be saved in the database. database will also contain the list of hospital that are in particular city in which user is driving the vehicle.

Benefits of the Project

the project will be very beneficial when it will be completed it will help to lessen the accident rates and the casualities from these accidents. 

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

 a car will be presented in which all the sensors and the will be embedded the buzzer will automatically start when some other car will come close to our car. moreover in case if accident occurs sensors will detect the accident and make an alert message and will send that message to the drivers predefined numbers
