Underwater Vehicle for Marine Life
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryUnmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV), sometimes known as underwater robots, are any submersible vehicles that are able to operate underwater without a human occupant. Human beings are keenly working on machines that provide them access to everything that could do all the major difficult and dangerous jobs without endangering human lives. UUVs (Unmanned Underwater Vehicles) are one of those machines that have done many contributions in underwater operations like inspection, lost ship recognition, and especially in deep waters which are not easily accessible to humans. It the important to remember that the underwater environment is highly dynamic, presenting significant disturbances to the vehicle, interaction with waves in shallow water applications, for instance.
These underwater robots have acquired much popularity. Now it is believed by the researchers that this technology has made this operation practical and safe without endangering human lives. Due to its potential contributions and high benefit in many fields, a lot of researcher does research on UUV, but most of them are not designed for small-scale inspection or recreational needs. Most of the UUV is large in size, has high deployment weight, and has expensive ownership. The idea of this UUV project is a small, low-cost, and underwater research vessel capable of performing in deep depths of the ocean.
UUV can be used for an underwater survey such as lost ship recognition, detecting, and obstructions that can be a hazard to navigation for commercial and recreational vessels. This UUV is a many-sided and multifaceted vehicle. An unmanned underwater vehicle is a controlled, self-propelled subsurface platform capable of carrying sensors and tools.
We are making UUV (Unmanned Underwater Vehicle). These series are designed to be low cost, they have shared control software and electronic subsystems. They are used underwater for surveying search and recovery as well as seafloor mapping. In this, we are using different sensors and actuators and we will recognize the picture underwater by interfacing it with MATLAB and also using different controllers.
Project ObjectivesAn Unmanned Underwater Vehicle or UUV is an untethered unmanned underwater vehicle capable of carrying out simple activities with little or no human supervision. UUVs are often used as survey platforms to characterize the physical, chemical, or biological properties of the water. The idea is to put different sensors and software applications together to make this UUV.
There are three objectives for doing this project:
1. To design an underwater robot that can travel through water.
2. To grasp the object underwater.
3. To design a proto-type low-cost UUV compare to conventional UUV.
Project Implementation MethodThe body of UUV will be 3D printing, PET material. The body will be divided into three different parts head section, middle section, and tail section; we will join these 3 parts through couplers.
In head, section will be fixed battery, in midsection will have instrumentation and tail section will have a servo, dc motors etc
This type of Unmanned Underwater Vehicles has recently become an attractive alternative for underwater search and exploration since they are cheaper than manned vehicles. Over the past years, there have been abundant attempts to develop Unmanned Underwater Vehicles to meet the challenge of exploration and extraction programs in the oceans. Recently, researchers have focused on the development of UUVs for long-term data collection in oceanography and coastal management.
