Material handling now a days is the highly focused in all the manufacturing industries because it plays a major role in the productivity of any industry. In modern days, effective material handling system can largely increase the production of an industry and save time. Hence, many industries are seeking for an effective material handling techniques to optimize their productivity. As distinct from manufacturing, material handling can used to build time and place utility through the handling, storage, and control of waste, which creates form utility by modifying the material's shape, form, and makeup. We should find that layout for a plant, which reduces the material handling cost. It focuses on how the machines and the departments could arranged in such a way to minimize the production time and maximize the productivity.
Efficient material handling in the industry makes the other processes easy and simple. Proper management of materials handling helps in shortening the delivery time lowers the overall cost of manufacturing, improve customer service and reduce inventory. Beginning from the processing of raw materials to carrying the finished goods out of the factory, the whole processes depends on material handling. Material handling has vital functions inside an industry.

In pharmaceutical industries there are issues of poor material handling system by using small lifter of lower capacity and poor layout and these issues are related to wastage of cost, time and labours. To overcome these problems, modification in layout and improvement in efficiency of material handling system is required that will enhance the productivity and quality.
The purpose of the study
To design effective material handling system with proper layout is an effective tool for production and quality. The purpose of this study is not to replace an organizations existing design process but rather support and improve the efficiency of material handling system.
The research questions
A lot of work has been done to improve the material handling system and its equipment. Improved material handling equipment are widely used for product/process planning and for production efficiency. However, no proper work has been done to use Layout techniques to improve the material handling system and to analyse the results of the existing and proposed material handling system and its production efficiency.
The objectives of the study
After the selection of topic Literature review started in which we have studied work of different scientist, engineers and many experts related with material handling system. Based on literature review the problem statement arises when visited the industries. In data collection, some of the engineering parameters will use to collect time and motion related data whereas, all the manufacturing processes involved in industry should kept in mind. Moreover, the focus on material handling system and layout will be the basic and fundamental step.
The model or design for the material handling system and layout in which basic terms are
Material handling equipment (MHE), design of layout and control Parameters must applied.
Analysis of Improved system will done if it validate and efficient then it will proceed to completion. After that, the results and recommendation will calculate for project and conclude the whole result and project work.
