Timetabling concerns all activities with regard to producing a schedule that must be subjective to different constraints. Timetable can be defined as the optimization of given activities, actions or events to a set of objects in space-time matrix to satisfy a set of desirable constraints. A university timetable is a temporal arrangement of a set of lectures and classrooms in which all given constraints are satisfied. Creating such timetables manually is complex and time-consuming process.

By automating this process with computer assisted timetable generator can save a lot of precious time of administrators who are involved in creating and managing course timetables. Since every university has its own timetabling problem, the commercially available software packages may not suit the need of every institute. Hence, we are developing practical approach for building lecture course timetabling system, which can be customized to fit to any university's timetabling problem.

This project includes a practical timetabling algorithm capable of taking care of both strong and weak constraints effectively, used in an automated timetabling system. The teachers and students can view their timetable once they are finalized for a given semester but they will not be able to edit it.

Project Objectives Project Implementation Method

We would adopt Agile Methodology for the development of system. The activities involved in system implementation is programming, testing the system, training of operators and conversion from the old system to the new system.

a. PROGRAMMING: The conversion of the design specification into computer readable language is performed here. Subsystem modules will be developed and compiled to produce the new system. Many frameworks will be employed to build the web application backend. 

For the mobile application, java and xml will be used for the development.

b. TESTING THE SYSTEM: The new system will be tested with the required constraints and the output might be a feasible timetable solution.

Benefits of the Project

The Timetable management System allows users to generate time table for newly occurring changes in less time, with less effort and with more efficiency. It will allow users to work on and view time tables in different platforms and view different information simultaneously. The Software will create Individual Schedules also i.e. it will create Academic Schedule, Examination Schedule, Class Schedule, Professor Schedules individually.

It utilizes minimal processing/computing power. The feature benefits attained by the project are as follows:

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Timetable Management System is a web based portal that allows the interaction between Internet users; therefore, their needs are of the utmost importance.

The web based uses the technology of hyperlinks, buttons and navigation bars which the majority of Internet users are familiar with. This means that Internet users can easily access information with just a click of a mouse button.

Timetable Management System interface will be made up of simple but effective presentations that can attract the Internet users’ attention. 

The account tab on home page opens a new page, Account panel. It has a jQuery enabled Sign In – Sign-up responsive feature. Users can both register and log in from here. It’s quick, easy and user-friendly. 

Smart biometric Color screen fingerprint and RFID time & attendance device will be used to maintain the timetable and check for available slots.

Smart LED Display Screen will show the timetable schedule and will be used in a proper display.
