Project Summary

It is a web-based application. The purpose of this system is to check either the user is Thalassemia patient or not.If yes, what is the type of Thalassemia, user is suffering from and also measures the marriage compatability between mal and female (couple) and detect the chances of Thalassemia disease in their children. 

System will use data maining and machine learning to perform the tasks.

Project Objectives

1. Thalassemia Detection with its type

2. Detect chances of disease in next generation of a certain couple

Project Implementation Method

First the data would be preprocessed, which will be then used for feature selection. Considering the types of Thalassemia and other related diseases there would be five classes (Normal, Anemia, Thalassemia minor, Thalassemia intermedia, Thalassemia major). Using one of the classification methods for example: Naive bayes, Decision tree or Neural networking, we will detect the Thalassemia type of the patient, if any. 

Benefits of the Project

1. Transferring of the disease to the child, will affect the children of their child too. The disease continues to pass on to the next generations. It is necessary for the individuals to go through thalassemia tests before marriage to avoid difficulties in future and be sure that their child is safe from this life-threatening disease.  

2. Cheap system will be available for Thalassemia detection, instead of costly Thalassemia type detection tests such as Electrophoresis.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

System will provide individual with a questionnaire related to Thalassemia. On the basis of questionnaire results, chances of Thalassemia will be predicted. If there are more chances of Thalassemia disease, laboratory blood tests (Complete Blood Count) will be recommended to the individual, else not. Report of the laboratory blood tests will be submitted to the system, which will in return specifies the type of Thalassemia in user. Individual will then select his/her partner with whom he/she has to check their marriage compatibility. Partner must submit his/her report. As a result, system predicts the marriage compatibility in male and female (couple) and diagnose the chance of disease in their generation.
