Project Summary

This project is aimed to develop an Android Application named as “Students’ Attendance Management (SAM)” for the university. In this application, we will make use of Self attendance using OTP. In this system there will be three Main users such as; the Admin, who will be responsible to add and manage classes, courses, teachers and students, second one will be Teacher, who will take the attendance in his/her class time and get the record of each student attendance, and the other will be Student who will first Log-in using his/her official university ID and password, will mark him/her as present and will be able to see his/her attendance record. If any student would not mark himself/herself as present or he/she will be absent, then he/she will be mark absent for that class automatically.

Project Objectives

The main objectives of developing this application are as given:

  • To exclude the use of paperwork and staff efforts.
  • To generate a systematic report of every student's attendance separately.
  • To help the management, teachers, and students, to save their time.
  • To maintain the record of attendance of every student and to get attendance history easily of a particular student.
  • To verify whether the student can sit for the exam or not.

To saves time, cost, efforts, and resources for the university.

Project Implementation Method

The process will go as, the teacher will Log-in and select the class for attendance, an OTP will be generated, which will last for 5 minutes, the OTP will be needed to be entered in the student’s app module, then he/she will be able to mark him/her as present. Once the OTP is expired, the teacher will be able to make the necessary changes in the attendance sheet and submit the attendance. If any student is short of attendance, then he/she will get automatic notification through this application, that he/she is not able to sit for the exam now, before one week of examination. The admin will generate the report for shortlisted attendance. The database of all students’ record could be sent to the university server.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

This application will be based on android technology, and it can be run on any android mobile phone. In this application, there are three main users who are as following:

Admin: who will be responsible to add and manage classes, courses, teachers, and students.

Teachers: who will take the attendance in his/her class time and get the record of each student attendance.

Student: who will first Log-in using his/her official university ID and password, will mark him/her as present and will be able to see his/her attendance record.
