Stair climbing wheelchair is used for carrying one person up or downstairs.The Stair climbing wheel chair can be folded into a smaller size for transporting.The Stair climbing wheel chair features four wheels for easy ground movement.  The Stair climbing wheel chair has been designed with handles in ergonomic locations for easy lifting.

Project Objectives

The Stair climbing is equipped with a safety belt to secure the rider during transportation. The Stair climbing is made of high-strength aluminum alloy materials. The Stair climbing is designed to be lift weight, compact, easy to carry, easy to use safely, and easy to clean and sterilize with minimum three hour's Battery Backup The Stair climbing features safety restraints and a footrest for the safety and comfort of the rider.

Project Implementation Method

Pakistan is a developing country but still certain parts are undeveloped where escalators and liftsare rarely found and commercially available wheelchairs are too costly to be bought by middle class people. This project will introduce a new horizon for the movability of physically challenged people over the stairs. It will enhance their personal mobility, which is a precondition for enjoying human rights.

Benefits of the Project

Now a days if we look around us we will find that there are paralyzed people in homes who are unable to climb a single step of stair God forbid if there is any emergency with the patient and no one is at home at a time. In that time a single person can easily take a patient to the hospital without wasting of any time by the help of this STW (stair climbing wheel chair).

The main benefit of this project is cost. As you know that there is no such that type of wheelchair in our country if we buy from online store it will cost around 800 dollars and we can make this at a very reasonable cost. Stairclimbers make light work of transporting a person in a wheelchair up and downstairs. Furthermore, they can be safely operated by just one person, removing the need for exhaustive physical effort that’s usually required, when transporting a wheelchair user up or downstairs depending upon the situation or need.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The whole component of the wheelchair is fabricated by using (MS) mild steel material due to its high strength and low cost. The components used are frame of the chair, wheels and fasteners. For the frame of the chair we have used mild steel Square pipe which was made according to our design. The wheels are of rubber as it has to bear the whole load of the person sitting in the chair and the turning wheels are also made of rubber.
