Stability Analysis of residential building constructed on expansive soil using PLAXIS
This project is concern with the stability analysis of expansive soil for residental building. For this purpose local expansive soil from Karak and Kohat area will be collected. The methodology of this study consist of testing the basic engineering properties related with the expansion and shrinkage of this problematric soil. As expansive soil is availabel in many regions of the Pakistan and causing damages to pavements and residential buildings in those areas as reported in many literature. The current study will completely evaluate the weak soil and new technique will be set in the construction of light weight buildings. In addition to the lab testing , software analysis will also be carried out for the purpose of validation of the calculated results. For this purpose The PLAXIS 3D soft ware will be used for analysis of the lab results.
To completely analyse the local problematic expansive soil of Karak and Kohat.
To find the enginieering paramaters related with the expansion and contruction of these soil.
To provide new techniques for the construction of residential builgings in these areas.
This project will be implemented in the area of stabilization of residential buildings constructed on expansive soil
Give recommendation to the constructor to construct specific type of light weight structure to resist swell and shrinkage of soil.
Aware the designer about the swell and shrinkage properties of soil so he will be able to design structure with due consideration to the damages of expansive soil.
Give the behavior of soil under light weight structure.
Data of the local available soil will be find which help in design of such type of structure which prone to the alternate shrinkage and swell.
Share the data with the concerned department to mitigate such problem in light weight structure which causes by expansive soil.
Structure will safe against swell and shrinkage properties of soil
Provision of new techniques at the foundation level of the structure constructed on expansive soil.
To protect the light structures especially residential buldings from the direct distresses of the swelling and shrinkage of foundation soil.
To protect life loss and infrastructure from the collapse of buildings.
