Smart Surveillance Drone for Social Distancing and Face Mask Detection
The rapid spread of the novel coronavirus and its resulting condition, COVID-19, has caught much of the world off-guard. The tragedy has yet to fully play out, but it is already clear that the crisis is thoroughly global in nature and that science is on the front lines in the fight against the virus. This includes public health officials tracking the virus and vigilantly urging such measures as social distancing and use of facial mask to mitigate its spread. Corona virus is a deadly disease and only symptomatic treatment is available for this pandemic.It is usually difficult to gather the information about the people who are not following SOPs in crowded areas. Through this project we will be able to get a bird eye view of a particular gathering of people not wearing a mask through drone and it would be easy and time saving to gather the information about the voiation of SOPs.
Drones have proven to be among the most promising technologies emerging. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact Pakistan, the response by the Government of Pakistan and all state authorities has been swift and effective. The advantages offered by use of drones are numerous. To begin with, drones help minimize human interactions and prevent exposure to viral transmission for our frontline warriors. They act as force multipliers in augmenting the available man-power for security and public safety. Drones can speed up transport by as much as 50% in comparison to regular vehicle road transport. They can also be deployed to reach remote areas easily and quickly than standard modes of transportation.
During the times of a public health emergency, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, UAVs, i.e., drones, can offer many advantages. Not only can they ensure minimized human interaction, but they can also be used to reach otherwise inaccessible areas.
The main objective of this project is aimed at face mask detection and monitoring social distancing .Through this project we would be able to attain the following objectives;
1.Design and development of a drone system.
2.Training our model to identify difference between masked and un-masked images and develop a contact less face mask detection.
3.To design and develop a system for monitoring social distance .
4.Implementing the python programming to the drone.
3.To design a system that can access the information about SOPs in crowded areas and thus reduce manpower.
4.To reduce the hazards of interaction among people.
5.To insure a system that can provide well being of people in a safe way.
*FACE MASK DETECTION*

*SOCIAL DISTANCE DETECTION*
1. Object detection using YOLO

3. Distance measurement between the detected objects.
*IMPLEMENTATION*
1. Implementing python code it to raspberry pi.
2. Integrating raspberry pi on the drone.
3. Making a wireless communication system between the drone and the control room that that collect the data and send to the control room.
Though the world is facing the crisis of novel corona virus. And it’s getting severe than before , it is the duty of every individual to follow sop’s by wearing a face mask and maintaining safe social distancing. But unfortunately in a developing country like pakistan , people don’t follow these rules strictly and as a result the condition is becoming worse and there is a hazard of spread of this virus. And since there is no vaccine available for the cure of this fetal disease , it is the responsibility of the government and other authorities to have a strict check on the fulfilment of the SOPs by local public. Through this project it would be easy for the public health care officers to have an eye on the people and to see whether they are following the SOPs or not . Following are some benefits of this project:
Respberry pi board:
Raspberry pi board is basically a mini computer that can perform almost all the operations that a desktop computer can. We use it as a hard drive and burn our python program on this board that will distinguish between different classes : masked/un-masked and social distance. We integrate this board with drone and it will act as a processor for drone.
Camera:
A camera that is used to take aerial pictures from the crowd and send it to control room for further processing.
Integrated drone :
A UAV (drone) that is integrated with a camera for taking the aerial images of the crowd in order to process the images for classification of masked/unmasked and safe distance/no safe distance , A raspberry pi board that is used as a processor that will implement the python program on the drone.
