Project Summary

Smart mirror is an electronic gadget, which consist of a mirror at the front end and a screen at the backend fitted in a single frame. It can be hung anywhere just like a normal mirror. It is able to show notifications pop-ups, weather reports, news, can sync some info from smartphone. An Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi connection is required to stay up-to date and power supply is also needed. It has a touch panel which means user can navigate by touching the mirror. Mirror can be operated by many ways i.e., By touch panel and using voice commands. Pictures can also be taken using smart mirror which can be than copied or moved to an USB.

Project Implementation Method

The smart mirror will be operated using a raspberry pi unit which will be programmed in C++, Python and java. temperature sensor will be used for finding room temperature. Ultrasonic sensor will be used for turning on/off the screen on the presence of the user. Humidity sensor and combustible air sensor will also be used. OLED screen will be used for display along with T.V smart two way mirror. touch sensor sticker will be used for making it into a touch interface. 

Benefits of the Project

• This product is to give critical information easily, make them easy to access.
• Information such as local data of room temperature, air quality, level of humidity etc as well as give weather forecasts weekly as well as  daily 
• the mirror will also give phone notification as well daily updated news through RSS feeding.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The end product will be a slim smart mirror which will be able to provide notification pop-ups, news, weather forecast, room temperature and air quality. it can also act as normal mirror.

the smart mirror is fully customizable depending on user need it can be packed in a wooden or aluminium or plastic frame.
