SMART HELMET WITH INNOVATIVE INFORMATION RELAYING SYSTEM
Motivation
Smart Helmet is an innovative idea for the safety and protection of riders.Today bike riding has become the most followed trend worldwide especially the interest of youth in bike riding is increasing day by day. They prefer using two wheelers instead of four wheelers. With increasing interest and developing trends in bike riding, the number of bike accidents are also increasing which leads to a increasing death rate. The use of smart helmet reduces difficulties in traffic conditions and intends people to use it for safety driving. This motivates us to design an Innovative Information Relying Smart Helmet system that will minimize the accident rate as well as death ratio due to bike crashes.
Project Summary
Today, motorcycle has become a very common mode of transport for individual riders. Motorcycle gives the freedom and flexibility for the riders to move anywhere they want and at any time. Riders do not have to be dependent on the public transportation services, which in many cities and countries are extremely unreliable. However, motorcycle riding has its own risks involved, especially when the rider does not follow the rules and do not take the necessary precautions to avoid unfortunate situations, which can lead to accidents, which are sometimes fatal. Although there are laws related to safe operation of motorcycles most of the times the rules are not followed.
As we know that security and safety is one of the most talked of topics in almost every aspect. Previously the most compulsion is to wear the helmet for the bike riders. Avoiding the wear of helmet caused the death of many people. Keeping in the view of the inconvenience caused in the helmet we have implemented many features in the helmet which are flexible to the rider. Actually in existence system, if the person met with any accident we can’t get the information regarding that accident so the person may die due to the late medication. However, Smart Helmet system sends that information like accident alert and position of the accident place to the particular number or ambulance emergency number so we can provide the medication to the victim just in time. A smart helmet with innovative information relaying system is a product that is developed for the safety of bike riders or motorcyclists. The main objective is to develop a innovative and reliable security/safety system. This product is especially developed for bike riders but it can also be used in different fields like mining industry with several changes.
Project Objectives
The smart helmet system mainly consists of 2 modules
Helmet contains switches, which are connected with a microcontroller unit. Sensors like speed sensor and an RFID tag are placed on the helmet. The bike module consists of an accelerometer, RF decoder microcontroller unit, relay, GPS module and an IOT system.
Design phase
The developed design of the smart helmet reduces difficulties in traffic conditions and intends people to use Smart Helmet for safety driving. It will minimize the accident ratio of distracted drivers by making all mobile functionalities available to the user. The product has a scope in everyday lives of common people and working class people who use bikes as their means of travel.
Benefits of Wearing Smart Helmet
Motorcycle helmet is a necessary feature for bike rider just like seat belt in car. It protects the motorcycle rider. Some benefits of wearing smart helmet are as follows
Smart helmet not protects the one who is wearing it but it also helps the traffic coming behind him by displaying the speed and next act of the rider at the back of helmet, which will help them in taking sudden action against rider’s act.
To ensure that the helmet is worn, helmet sensor is used. If the helmet is worn properly then ignition will start otherwise it remains off.
Acceleration forces are measured by using the accelerometer. It measures
the change in speed or velocity divided by time. By using accelerometer, the user can be determined whether an object is move to uphill or whether fall over, or if tit tilts its fly horizontally or downward.
When the rider crashes and the helmet hit the ground, these sensors
sense and provide it to the microcontroller board, then controller
extract GPS data using the GPS module that is integrated to it. When the
data goes below the minimum stress limit then GSM module
automatically sends alerting message to ambulance or family member
GSM is global system for mobile communication, which is widely used
for communicate through mobile.
It is one of the best motorcycle helmets with a rear-view camera that enables the rider to see the whole of the back view without blind spots.
