Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryHealth is one of the global challenges for humanity. In the last decade the healthcare has drawn considerable amount of attention. The prime goal was to develop a reliable patient monitoring system so that the healthcare professionals can monitor the patients. Recently, the patient monitoring systems is one of the major advancements because of its improved technology. Currently, there is need for a modernized approach. In the traditional approach the healthcare professionals play the major role. They need to visit the patients ward for necessary diagnosis and advising. There are two basic problems associated with this approach.
Firstly, the healthcare professionals must be present on site of the patient all the time and secondly, the patient remains admitted in a hospital, bedside biomedical instruments, for a period of time. In order to solve these two problems, the patients are given knowledge and information about disease diagnosis and prevention. Secondly, a reliable and readily available patient monitoring system (PMS) is required. Health Monitoring System uses sensors along with raspberry pi play a vital role. Wearable sensors are in contact with the human body and monitor his or her physiological parameters.
We can buy variety of sensors from the market such as ECG sensors, temperature sensors, blood pressure sensor, heart rate sensors etc. The cost of the sensors varies according to their size, flexibility and accuracy. The Android which is a cheap, flexible, fully customizable and programmable small computer board brings the advantages of a PC to the domain of sensor network. In our system we are measuring patients parameters (ECG, temperature, heart rate, blood pressure) different available sensors. This sensor collected data i.e. biometric information is given to android and then it is transferred to server. The data stored in a database and can be displayed in android application that can be accessed only by authorized personnel. The doctors, patient can be given authorization. The system even facilitates the doctor to view the patient’s previous history from the data in memory. A module that provides mobility to the doctor and the patient, by adopting a simple and popular technique, detecting the abnormalities in the bio signal of the patient in advance and sending an alert Notification to the through Firebase notification thereby taking suitable precautionary measures thus reducing the critical level of the patient.
Project ObjectivesThe goal of this project is to make a device for body monetization in which a user can check and store its readings in a live database their respective doctor can access its reading for online recommendation through android app. Our project will mainly focus on the following objectives:
- Develop a system for which we can check our health conditions.
- Store readings whenever a patient or a person attach device to its body.
- Communication between Doctor and a patient.
- Provide a user-friendly graphical user interface to display health profiles.
To achieve the first goal, we will make an android app
To achieve the second goal, we will make sensor based device.
To achieve our third goal, we will make a doctor and patient module.
The biggest challenge we expect to face will be on medicine recommendation. To address this challenge, we will consult a doctor and use symbolic Artificial Intelligence to make our system an expert system.
Project Implementation MethodThe Implementation Phase will include the following aspects:
1) Develop the Recommendation TechniqueBased on our design, we will make our recommendation technique in java because we show recommended medicines in android app.
2) Build the databaseBased on our ER diagram, we will make our database in Firebase.
3) Integration b/w Hardware and SoftwareAfter making android app and wearable device we will integrate both with one another.
4) Build the user interfaceBased on our design, we will use different designing tools to make user interface look more attractive.
Benefits of the ProjectThe project we are going to make is significant in various ways because in Pakistan, everyday many lives are affected because the patients are not timely and properly operated. Also for real time parameter values are not efficiently measured in clinic as well as in hospitals. Sometimes it becomes difficult for hospitals to frequently check patient’s conditions. Also continuous monitoring of ICU patients is not possible. To deal with these types of situations, our system is beneficial. Our system is designed to be used in hospitals and homes also for measuring and monitoring various parameters like temperature, ECG, heart rate, blood pressure. The results can be recorded using Arduino. Also the doctors can see those results on android app. The system will also generate an alert notification which will be sent to doctor. Our system is useful for monitoring health system of every person through easily attach the device and record it. In which we can analysis patient’s condition through their past data, we will recommend medicines if an emergency occurred through symbolic A.I.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe final deliverable consist of a hardware with ECG Modul, Temprature sensor, Blood pressure, heart rate sensor . the hardware collect data from above sensors and modules and send them to android application using bluetooth and android application save those data on google live database through which doctor can monitor live values through remote location
